We snapped these pics before a recent quick trip up North…was hoping to pack this light again for San Francisco but no such luck! My friends kept telling me to pack sufficiently for changing temps, so I ended up bringing enough layers to clothe a small family. I was buried under about 4 of these layers when I spotted my cooking idol Giada De Laurentiis just now at the airport, and huffed my way over to fangirl out. She is very petite in-person and kindly humored me for selfies (& complimented my outfit…eek!) even while running late for a flight.
If you’re looking for a lower-heeled ankle boot that also comes up lower at the ankle, these Sole Society Devyn booties are very comfortable and made of real leather or suede. They didn’t need breaking in for me and I walked in them for over a mile during the first wear. I have them on again now at the airport as I’m typing up this post! The low 2.5″ stacked heels give a little boost but are manageable for those who don’t love high heels. Sizing is unfortunately now limited for this style but they have several similar low-heeled booties as well.
Sizing-wise, I took a 5.5 and there’s just enough room inside for thin socks (I’m usually between a 5 and 5.5 in most brands). The opening is not too wide for narrow ankles and is low enough so that you don’t need to cuff your skinny jeans up too high. The entry to these boots is via a zipper down the back center.
I see this scarf from last year is now sold out again in the “dark green” color…hope anyone who was interested was able to pick it up when I posted about the re-stock earlier! It truly is a great scarf both size and color scheme-wise, so hopefully they’ll bring back more. Speaking of hunter green I also wanted to point out these Ayla ankle strap heels that are a lower version of my beloved Cadena heels from last year. I tried these on for size (a 5 fit, so half size down from the booties) – the design is classic and the colored suede looked good quality.
I love your boots! They are amazing. I am pregnant and I don`t have to wear high heels. Next week I am going to travel to Venice. I will try to find boots like these until then. Best regards!
What a lovely look 🙂 I really love your camel cardigan! Perfect travel outfit!

This is a perfect post for me because I've been looking for low-heeled boots for the longest time! I've been searching for black leather ones with a point, but they're either in suede or not pointy enough or too high. It's a mess of a search! I think I'll have to do a little more looking because black version of the boots that you're wearing are suede, but this post definitely points me in the right direction!
How To Be More Like Lauren
I absolutely love that you do styles for petite sizes because it's really hard to wear outer clothing when most items go past my knees when it shouldn't. I love the vibe of this outfit, very casual and comfortable. I'll definitely pair this outfit with my petite necklace as well!

Thanks for the reply. I stumbled on the Tom's Lunata which I think may work. Mixed reviews about them running large vs true to size but overall good comments.
Love this look!

Hi Julia! Looking forward to meeting you! Your website looks scrumptious…I'll surely be checking it out more for recipes and inspiration : )
Oh no! That sold out quickly : / What do you think about the Tom's Leila bootie? They're a little lower and I haven't tried them on personally, but they look classic and dressy enough for pants, plus have good reviews. If those don't work out I don't think you can go wrong with another color of the Trolley!
Great Cardigan!! Love your travel outfit!!

Jean, I recently moved to SF and am coming to your event tomorrow! I'm so excited to meet you. Your friends were right to tell you to bring layers, as it has been quite chilly here the past few weeks.
I think this is a perfect outfit for traveling or for relaxing on the weekend – effortlessly chic yet comfortable too. I love those booties, but they are sold out. But wearing heels in hilly SF is pretty tough, so maybe it's for the best 🙂
Beautiful look.

Very cool that you got to meet Giada!
Bought my first cape a year ago and now it's an absolute must-piece in each of travel outfits! Incredibly handy on the plane if I'm not early enough to catch a blanket. Love your outfit!
I am on the hunt for a taupe suede bootie that I can wear with skinnies but not so casual that I couldn't wear them with work pants. These Sole Society are sold out 🙁 Any other thoughts? I have the BP Trolley in black based on your recommendation and I love them. Considering another color but thought I would ask about other options. Thanks!
I love a camel color cardigan for fall, this is effortless travel outfit.
