White on White

cream lace leopard 2

H&M; lace top (past season), J.Crew skirt (old), DIY leopard clutch (tutorial)
Ivanka Trump “Carra” heels (6 colors / prints)

I caught glimpse of a lady the other day in a chic lace shift dress, and made note to try recreating it with old pieces. We had a wave of heat and humidity last week, which meant goodbye coats that I brought out prematurely and hello again cropped tops and minis. This flared tank + high-waisted skirt came together nicely for that straight-edge shift look I wanted. For date night in our neighborhood, I added olive suede pumps and a leopard clutch to make this white-after-labor day pairing a little more seasonal.

red trump pumpsI was intrigued by other colors these shoes come in and also ordered the red suede. The shade looked deeper online and I returned since they turned out to be very close to fiery red pumps I already own. I’d recommend to anyone looking for a brighter vs. dark red (love styling mine with black + white outfits for a classic pop of color). The “green” however was just what I was looking for – an earthy, dark shade of olive perfect for autumn which is around the corner.
cream lace leopard 1Another shoe brand that I had been watching for a while is Sarah Jessica Parker’s – I thought right off the bat the designs looked super similar to Manolos, and was surprised to just learn that the entire collection was in collaboration with their CEO. There are some really delicate and feminine designs which I love, but am not a big fan of the sportier stripe down the back center of most styles. Below: SJP Carrie (4 colors), Serge, and Pola.

If anyone has tried this newer brand, please share any thoughts on fit, quality, and how they compare to actual Manolos! This post was in collaboration with Nordstrom fall shoes. As always, opinions are my own.

I don't believe in most fashion rules and agree that one especially doesn't make sense. I love white year round and actually especially in colder seasons (ie. "winter white")!

Hi there – I think they run true to size. I usually take between 5 and 5.5 in most brands and tried both with this style and ended up with the 5.5 because of the pointy toe. I find them comfortable given the 4" heel, but if you usually stick with 3.25 these may feel too high, just to be honest!

As far as the SJP shoes, the ribbon actually has personal meaning and is in honor of her mother, so I think once you know the full story, you like the ribbon and it means something more!

I tried the SJP "Carrie" a few months ago (size 5), and I think they fit a bit longer than Manolos on me (I'm always a size 5 in his shoes).

The shoes are gorgeous, but I thought the heel was quite thin and wobbly. I also would have had to add two holes to the straps to make them fit snugly around my ankles, but that's an easy fix. Overall the shoe looks so sexy and delicate, I was sorely tempted to buy them!

you look great! but why can't we wear white after labor day? it seems like a somewhat arbitrary rule that doesn't make sense and is unnecessarily limiting.

    Hi Jean,

I love those IT pumps! Are they relatively comfortable? I love the looks of those pumps but I typically don't go over 3 1/4 inches in heels. Also, do they run true to size? Thanks!

I love the look of the SJP shoe collection, however, I am also not a fan of the sporty looking stripe down the back of the shoes. While looking at the collection, I noticed that all of the shoes that I saw (with the exception of sling backs), had the stripe. I actually wondering if it was some type of "signature" look (like red soles to Christian Louboutins)?

Yeah, SJP's are kind of reminiscent of the Blahniks, sleek, pointy and stylish. I guess this is how the lady prefer her shoes… I was salivating at her shoes when she promoted them on Ellen's show and the colour range is to die for. Still one of my favourite fashion icon of all time.
