Indian wedding wear: blue, orange + gold

Jimmy Choo pumps (similar in 3″), vintage pearl & gold earrings (similar)

We are still loving each of your unique, personal stories (and gorgeous photos!) being shared in this post. Today’s post is my outfit for our good friend’s Indian wedding. As my own bridal events are still a ways off, I styled my JC pumps here with an intricate print and complementary color scheme. Against these elements, the light gold glimmer serves as a neutral. I was told to expect plenty of vibrant colors, detailed patterns, and metallic accents at the event – so figured why not join in on the fun!

I had pinned this dress a while back when most petite sizes were already sold out. While cleaning up my boards, I inadvertently clicked through the link and was thrilled to see a pop-back (customer return?) in my size. Paying for the hefty online shipping is a bummer, but the dress in 00 petite turned out to be a rare perfect fit right off the rack. Would highly recommend if more returns pop up or if gets restocked.

These are one of my first pairs of true d’orsay style (with the side middle cut away) shoes and I’m hooked. They give toe coverage like regular pumps so can be worn year-round, but the open sides feel more comfy (esp. if your feet tend to balloon in the heat like mine). Despite a mid-height heel, the extra 2 inches of bared skin on the d’orsay sides also visually help lengthen legs. Here are a few more of my picks for special events, available in sizes down to a 34:

    Hi Jean,

I've been in love with this dress since I saw it on your blog – so pretty! I just saw a size 2 regular on Ebay and I'm about your size (+ a larger chest). It will definitely not fit me straight off the rack but do you think this dress has alteration potential? I would probably need it taken in at the waist and shortened a lot but I don't know what this dress feels like and how it's constructed since I've never seen/felt it.

    Thanks!

Hi there – unfortunately I think I got this one several years ago. This is not the same tone of gold but I have a number of belts from AT that have held up well: http://www.anntaylor.com/skinny-metallic-belt/324828?colorExplode=false&skuId;=14902161&catid;=cat1860024&productPageType;=fullPriceProducts&defaultColor;=3019&CID;=aff_7078679

Macy's also has one that looks like it might be a closer gold: http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/style-co-2-for-1-croco-patent-belt?ID=956869&CategoryID;=26846#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D1%26kws%3Dstyle%20&%20co%20croco%20belt%26slotId%3D1

Thank you for your kind words, but I don't have a regular workout regiment. I eat small but frequent meals throughout the day (a doctor had suggested that when I was younger to moderate metabolism), run about once a week and do light weights (5-10lbs) to tone arms.

Sure! It's very easy…just tease the top, curl the ponytail and then wrap a piece of hair around the elastic tie. I'll try to record a quick video.

    Lovely dress, Jean!

Indian wedding is all about vibrant colors and lots of patterns! It is one of those weddings where you can wear something fun and bright and not worry about getting too much attention.

I just attended my first Indian wedding in April as well and even gave a speech and danced in front of 700 guests. This is the dress I wore to the wedding. It is the Ann Taylor Jacquard Sheath Dress.

Hope you enjoy your first Indian Wedding! It will be fun!

This dress is gorgeoussss and major major envy haha! By the way, a tip in regards to crazy shipping price: I always call Anthro online or and ask if they can waive shipping and I always say it sweetly (hahaha) and they ALWAYS waive shipping! I did it with Bloomies too recently and they gave me an extra 10% off as well! I'm telling you, you should totally try it!

Oh, man. This dress is beautiful except, for some reason, I hate that it has sleeves. If it was sleeveless and had perhaps a lower V-neckline, it would be perfect in my eyes (and I would be so tempted by this post to grab the 00P ). I adore the way you've styled it, though! It looks fantastic on you and I absolutely love the entire outfit.
