We are still loving each of your unique, personal stories (and gorgeous photos!) being shared in this post. Today’s post is my outfit for our good friend’s Indian wedding. As my own bridal events are still a ways off, I styled my JC pumps here with an intricate print and complementary color scheme. Against these elements, the light gold glimmer serves as a neutral. I was told to expect plenty of vibrant colors, detailed patterns, and metallic accents at the event – so figured why not join in on the fun!

I had pinned this dress a while back when most petite sizes were already sold out. While cleaning up my boards, I inadvertently clicked through the link and was thrilled to see a pop-back (customer return?) in my size. Paying for the hefty online shipping is a bummer, but the dress in 00 petite turned out to be a rare perfect fit right off the rack. Would highly recommend if more returns pop up or if gets restocked.

These are one of my first pairs of true d’orsay style (with the side middle cut away) shoes and I’m hooked. They give toe coverage like regular pumps so can be worn year-round, but the open sides feel more comfy (esp. if your feet tend to balloon in the heat like mine). Despite a mid-height heel, the extra 2 inches of bared skin on the d’orsay sides also visually help lengthen legs. Here are a few more of my picks for special events, available in sizes down to a 34:

Can you go through how you tie the pretzel knot?

    • Visceral Maze June 20, 2014 at 5:14 pm

I love Jimmy Choos. I had the open toed platform ones for my wedding and it was worth the money.

Love this dress. Blue floral on white is so crisp. Love the orange jacket with it.

Beautiful dress, and adoring the shoes. You look so stunning, and beautiful photos as well.

    • Andrea June 20, 2014 at 5:59 pm

Oh, man. This dress is beautiful except, for some reason, I hate that it has sleeves. If it was sleeveless and had perhaps a lower V-neckline, it would be perfect in my eyes (and I would be so tempted by this post to grab the 00P ). I adore the way you've styled it, though! It looks fantastic on you and I absolutely love the entire outfit.

Beautiful dress! I love it when sizes are magically restocked! =) I wish anthro would hurry up and just offer free shipping for a limit, makes online shopping with them a pain! Thanks for the rec, I just purchased the dress and can't wait to wear it this summer!

    • Shira June 20, 2014 at 6:46 pm

This dress is gorgeoussss and major major envy haha! By the way, a tip in regards to crazy shipping price: I always call Anthro online or and ask if they can waive shipping and I always say it sweetly (hahaha) and they ALWAYS waive shipping! I did it with Bloomies too recently and they gave me an extra 10% off as well! I'm telling you, you should totally try it!

Jean, loving the styled ponytail! Would you be able to do a quick hair tutorial or blog post? 🙂

    • A Golden Tulip June 20, 2014 at 7:53 pm

Hi Jean, you've probably answered this question many times, but I noticed the belt that you've been wearing in your recent posts. I really love it, but didn't find anything like that on JCrew website. Could you point to a link or the name of the belt? Many thanks!

I second the request above for a tutorial on this hairstyle! Love it.

    • pumpkinmommy June 20, 2014 at 8:58 pm

What gives the skirt its shape? Is there some pannier-esque material in the lining? Or is the fabric naturally sturdy?

    • AlexisB June 20, 2014 at 11:00 pm

So beautiful! The dress reminds me of a blue china pattern. Love the jacket too. HM rarely has jackets that nice anymore.

    • Miss Hot Couture June 20, 2014 at 11:05 pm

Yes Indian weddings are very vibrant! Good color scheme!

What a stunning combination, I wouldn't have thought to pair those two items but they totally work! I was wondering to myself just now–have you ever posted your workout routine? Do you work out on a regular basis? Just curious, you have a gorgeous figure!!

    • Happiness at Mid Life June 21, 2014 at 3:24 am

So pretty, Jean! I've been hooked on d'orsay style shoes too, they tend to fit better for narrow feet as well.

    • Anonymous June 21, 2014 at 1:38 pm

So beautiful that blue and white dress with the red jacket. I have a same red blazer – now I know how to use it 🙂 thank you, Jean, your awesome 🙂

      Lovely dress, Jean!

Indian wedding is all about vibrant colors and lots of patterns! It is one of those weddings where you can wear something fun and bright and not worry about getting too much attention.

I just attended my first Indian wedding in April as well and even gave a speech and danced in front of 700 guests. This is the dress I wore to the wedding. It is the Ann Taylor Jacquard Sheath Dress.

Hope you enjoy your first Indian Wedding! It will be fun!

thought you would want to know, jcrew now carries 000 (instead of just 00) in some of their items! I saw it on the skirts and pants. hopefully more of them will be able to fit you now 🙂

Can you show this belt knot step by step? I tried and it didn't look the same

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:34 am

      Sure! posted today

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:35 am

That's awesome! I guess it never hurts to ask…

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:35 am

Sure! It's very easy…just tease the top, curl the ponytail and then wrap a piece of hair around the elastic tie. I'll try to record a quick video.

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:39 am

The fabric is scuba-like and is sturdy : )

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:39 am

      Thank you! Will do

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:40 am

H&M; seems to have gotten a lot more trendy vs these classic quality pieces from before…which is a shame!

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:42 am

Thank you for your kind words, but I don't have a regular workout regiment. I eat small but frequent meals throughout the day (a doctor had suggested that when I was younger to moderate metabolism), run about once a week and do light weights (5-10lbs) to tone arms.

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:43 am

You looked beautiful! I'm always in awe at the sizes of Indian weddings!

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:44 am

Thank you for the tip! Will have to check it out. It's interesting to find "vintage" jcrew items and see how size 6 from the past fits like their 0s today…

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:45 am

Hi Rina, I'd happy to post a step by step soon!

    • Jean June 24, 2014 at 9:50 am

Hi there – unfortunately I think I got this one several years ago. This is not the same tone of gold but I have a number of belts from AT that have held up well: http://www.anntaylor.com/skinny-metallic-belt/324828?colorExplode=false&skuId;=14902161&catid;=cat1860024&productPageType;=fullPriceProducts&defaultColor;=3019&CID;=aff_7078679

Macy's also has one that looks like it might be a closer gold: http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/style-co-2-for-1-croco-patent-belt?ID=956869&CategoryID;=26846#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D1%26kws%3Dstyle%20&%20co%20croco%20belt%26slotId%3D1

The pattern on this dress is sooo divine.

    • Florence October 19, 2014 at 1:43 am

      Hi Jean,

I've been in love with this dress since I saw it on your blog – so pretty! I just saw a size 2 regular on Ebay and I'm about your size (+ a larger chest). It will definitely not fit me straight off the rack but do you think this dress has alteration potential? I would probably need it taken in at the waist and shortened a lot but I don't know what this dress feels like and how it's constructed since I've never seen/felt it.

    • Elisha Kelly November 18, 2014 at 7:33 am

I'm jealous with your beautiful dress. Wish I could have one. You look adorable!! Find accessories that will add beauty to your outfit.
