Comfy, Practical Spring Shoes in sz 4+

Boston style blogger, Extra Petite shares a look at comfortable and practical Spring sandals in small sizes. Three shoe options sizes 4-13.

Caslon tie top xxs petite (nursing-friendly), Levi’s shorts 24 (high rise) on sale!, J.Brand crop jeans sz 24 (my longtime favorites), T&B wedges sz 5, Panacea earrings, Gucci bag

In the blink of an eye, my little girl just turned 8 months! Her favorite things to do now include pulling herself up to stand with hopes of “walking” everywhere, but she ends up just free falling backwards like a tree in the forest (sigh). Needless to say, comfortable and practical pieces to wrangle and chase her around in have been on regular rotation! I’m partnering with Nordstrom to share some of these pieces, including a few sandals available in small sizes (4 – 13!) that you guys do not want to miss, especially if you loved (or missed out on) my Caslon sandals that were the biggest hit last year!

1. Caslon Cameron wedge sandal

Sizes: 4 – 13, in 5 colors
Walk score: Highest
Fit: TTS

I’m sure a lot of you remember my yellow Caslon “Claire” sandals from last year (see my review) which I wore all around Europe and throughout my pregnancy! The Cameron is Claire’s updated sister, with the same comfy cushioned inner, super lightweight serrated sole, and suede straps lined in a soft material. You can probably tackle miles in the Cameron or a full day of travel with no breaking in needed!

Updates from last year include the strap style along with the addition of a small, < 1″ woven espadrille-style wedge which I love. I’ll take some photos when I’m back in Boston, but was eager to share these while all colors and sizes are in stock! I have to disagree with one of the reviews saying these run wide. Last year’s version definitely ran wide, but these in comparison in the same size have a normal fit, at least in my opinion.

The tan color is the safest bet in terms of a wear-with-everything neutral, but the yellow is a fun pop of color that will get more wear than you’d expect! Check out some of my posts here, here, and here with my yellow Caslon sandals from last year.

2. Caslon Ashton platform espadrille

Sizes: 4 – 13, in 5 colors
Walk score: High
Fit: TTS, front straps run narrow across the foot

The 1″ platform on these give a little extra height but are still very comfortable for walking around in. I would assign them a lower walk score than the Cameron because these do have the platform, and flat soles versus an angled wedge (I personally find a slight heel or wedge to be most supportive).

The straps are made of a chic braided faux suede upper that looks comparable to genuine suede. And similar to the Cameron sandals, the straps on these are lined with a soft material for comfort, and there’s a cushioned insole (slightly less cushioned than the Cameron), and lightweight espadrille-style soles.

3. Treasure & Bond wedges

Sizes: 4 – 13, in 8 colors
Walk score: Medium
Fit: TTS, front straps run slightly narrow across the foot

For something with a lot more height, I’ve had these wedges for a few years now (see an old photo of them styled) and was happy to see them still available in lots of new colors! They’re technically like a 3″ wedge plus 1″ platform but feel more comfortable, in my opinion. The tan color works for me as a versatile neutral and is flattering against bare legs, and the soles are fairly lightweight considering the amount of wedge!

4. Caslon tie hem top

Sizes: xxs – xxl, in both petite and regular
Fit: Runs a little big

Not a shoe, but along the lines of comfort and practicality, this is an airy linen-cotton blend top with nursing-friendly buttons and a casual tie at the waist. My usual xxs petite is a looser casual fit on me but not overwhelming. The shoulders are drop-shoulder style and the sleeves are full length and hit at my wrist bone, but I usually cuff them up for a more laid back feel!

Did you have issues with your Caslon platform espadrilles coming apart? Mine started coming apart at the sides after two wears! I’m taking them back to Nordstrom to see what they can do in terms of exchanging or returning. I’m not sure if I got unlucky or if this is a general quality issue…? So bummed because I loved the comfort and look!

    Hi Jean,

Have you gotten the Caslon sandals wet?? I bought them for my trip to Bali but not sure if I can get them wet. Don’t plan on wading in the water with them but want to know if they’ll be okay if I got a little water on them.

    Thanks!

Are you sure you live in Boston (lol)? I grew up in Massachusetts and it doesn’t look anything like your photos. I want to live in YOUR Boston! I know you travel a lot but would love to see more Boston in your photos and more clothes suitable to Boston weather.

    Hi Jean,
Love your outfit! The Caslon top looks great on you. Does the Caslon top material wrinkle? Do you have to iron it? Thanks!
