M.Gemi Shoes

spring fashion trench coat stripes flats loafers outfit

M.Gemi Pastoso loafer 35.5, J.Brand crop jeans sz 24 on sale!, very similar turtleneck on sale!, Burberry trench, Celine bag

Happy Monday! M. Gemi gave me an awesome code to share with you guys – new customers can use code JEAN60 for $60 off (not combinable with sale items or other codes). As some of you may know, I was part of the startup team at the company when it launched, and got to see a lot of what goes into each product. While I’m no longer there, I’m working with them in a different capacity today to share some of my personal favorite shoes since launch! (p.s. shipping and returns within the US are always free).

For those who aren’t familiar, M.Gemi brings luxury shoes direct-to-consumer from Italian artisans, with new styles arriving online each Monday. Each style is handmade in limited quantities, but there’s a few core styles that are more regularly available. Even though I’m an avid heels wearer, my favorite shoes from the brand are actually their practical flats! The Felize Pastoso loafers are two classics that were best-sellers from the start, and are made at a small, family-run Tuscany workshop specializing in moccasins.

The leather outer and lining on these are soft and supple, making them some of my most comfortable shoes ever with no breaking-in needed. I own both styles and the fit and look are pretty much the same, except for the band that goes across the top of the Pastoso.

mgemi italian driving loafer shoes felize pastoso review

I’m wearing a seasonal color here which sold out quickly, but I also love the new cream, gray, and soft pastel options for spring (also check out the Felize in beautiful “dusty rose”)! True to the driving loafer style, there’s small beads of rubber traction cushioning on the bottom which extend to the lower back side, and serve as a guard of sorts when you’re stepping on the pedals while driving. Because I do wear heels so often, it’s a treat to slip my feet into these for travel or for running around town. I typically wear between a US 5 and 5.5 in other brands – I take a EUR 35.5 in the Felize and Pastoso loafers and it’s a snug fit.

mgemi stellato flat italian loafer review

If you’re looking for something a little more sleek, the Stellato is a pointed slip-on flat with leather outers, lining, and soles. These are also comfortable for everyday wear, and look sharp and professional paired with business outfits. Compared to the driving moccasins, these have a smooth, harder leather sole (typical of higher-end designer flats), versus a flexible leather and rubber sole. I took a half size down in these compared to the mocs.

mgemi cammeo heels pumps review

M.Gemi pumps sz 35.5

For my fellow heel lovers – the Cammeo pumps (now renamed the Esatto 105) were my first pair of M.Gemi shoes, so you may have spotted them in outfits here and there over the years! They have a gorgeous, leg-lengthening silhouette similar to that of high-end designers, and are also fully leather in construction. At 4.25″ high with a pointed toe that runs on the narrow side, note these are not shoes for walking around in all day. With high, pointed toe pumps like these, I find that going half a size up can help with comfort. For a mid-heeled alternative, the Esatto 90mm is their classic 3.5″ pump with a similar silhouette.

Thank you to M.Gemi for partnering on this post. I’d love to hear what your favorite styles are, and if you own any shoes from the brand!

I have a pair of shoes just like the pair in the middle of the last picture. I love the shape of it, would be nice to get it in a light pink shade!

I am 56 and one of my M. Gemi's is a sparkly Essato that 18 year-olds have adored! Their shoes work for many shapes of feet, and come in classic and trendy styles. My graduation gift to a few young ladies this year is the shoes they walk in to receive their diploma. This is quality that they can keep for years.

Oh my goodness, those tan point flats are adorable! I love wearing pointed fats because it always makes my legs look so much longer than they actually are.

These pics are gorgeous, Jean! They look like movie stills from an Audrey Hepburn film. And congratulations on this collaboration! Their loafers and heels are so timeless. I normally wear ballet flats but I need to pick up a pair of the loafers. I have been searching for a good pair for some time now so thank you for this very helpful post!

I own several pairs of their shoes and find their sizing to be all over the place. I've never ordered a pair that I haven't sent back to get another size that fits. I find them to run very small.

  • Mizeats March 20, 2017 at 4:06 pm

Btw, I picked up the Pastoso loafer after seeing the pink one on you. 👌

  • Melissa March 20, 2017 at 5:28 pm

Didnt realize you were part of their start up team!!! Been on the waitlist for the blush Pastoso (truly hoping they get it back in stock). Last week, I ordered the natural Stellato in a sz 5 but since Im fairly consistently a half a size smaller than what you wear, Im afraid it might be a bit big on me. Crossing my fingers that it will work out, they are such beautiful shoes! Lots of hoping here!

I LOVE M. Gemi! I own the Proprio heels – a little more manageable compared to the Cammeo for my setting in healthcare/academia. I love their Italian quality and look forward to adding more pairs to my collection! Love the pastel colors they have for spring/summer now!

I love the pumps and the Stellato flats. Those flats actually look perfect for work, comfortable yet professionally chic. I haven't worn M. Gemi yet, but will need to check it out. I absolutely love your black ensemble with that umbrella skirt!

Jean, Thank you for the introduction to M. Gemi! As a former custom bag maker… I had stitchers who were true artists, with skills passed down from generation to generation. What a wonderful opportunity for you to be part of creating this brand! Every brightly-colored driving moc on their website is calling my name! I think I'm in love! 🙂 Thank you, as always, for a wonderful informative post! -Gwen

  • Jean March 23, 2017 at 1:01 am

Hi Denise – that's so nice to hear! I love it when styles transcend age groups. And you must be QUITE the popular gift giver at graduation time! That's very thoughtful and I'm sure much-appreciated by the recipients.

  • Jean March 23, 2017 at 1:03 am

Hi there – mine is very old and I'm not even sure where it's from. Unfortunately it's not a garment type that is available for sale very often these days! I have only seen petticoats these days at Modcloth, Kohl's online, and select other stores being sold as a costume accessory. But you can also make one out of tulle, if you are crafty.

  • Jean March 23, 2017 at 1:04 am

I really hope you will love the Pastoso. Keep me posted on what you think. What color did you pick up?

  • Unknown March 23, 2017 at 11:21 am

I have problem feet (wide-ish with mini bunions, boo) and am curious if anyone with similar feet has tried m gemi. If so, could you please share your thoughts? The shoes are so beautiful. Thank you!

  • Mizeats March 23, 2017 at 4:29 pm

Hi Jean, I chose the grey color. I'll keep you posted. Thanks again for the recommendation!

  • Jessica Lam March 24, 2017 at 7:33 pm

    Omg they're all so adorable!

  • Mizeats March 24, 2017 at 11:26 pm

Hi Jean, I received the loafers today and they fit perfectly! Woohoo!! I love them and can't wait to use them. Quick question – did you spray leather protectant on yours being using them? Thanks!

  • Mary March 25, 2017 at 12:49 pm

Thanks for sharing! I picked up a pair of the cosmo flats and hoping they fit my wide feet! How's the arch support in this brand?

  • Essere Moda March 25, 2017 at 12:52 pm

    I love them all! It's perfect for the Spring/Summer <3 - https://esseremoda.nl/green-delta-highwaist-pants-for-the-spring/

  • Lynn Yeung March 28, 2017 at 2:26 pm

Can you link what you wore to give the black skirt its fullness? Thanks

  • Jean March 29, 2017 at 2:56 pm

Yay! So happy to hear that, and the grey looks beautiful. I actually did not spray mine but I should've … I ran out of my usual Cadillac leather shield spray from Nordstrom and was a little eager to wear the shoes out. If you do decide to spray, just be sure to do it before wearing (or clean them well, if you already wore them) to avoid sealing dust or dirt under there.

  • Jean March 29, 2017 at 8:36 pm

Hi Melissa – ah, they might be too big on you then, but I do hope they work out! You never know, styles may fit everyone's feet differently based on foot width, etc.

  • Jean March 29, 2017 at 8:36 pm

I'm pulling together some of my favorite workout videos (that I do at home) and will share when I have a full list : )

  • Jean March 29, 2017 at 8:37 pm

Hi Mary – I found it to differ quite a bit from style to style. For example the flats with fully leather, harder soles are similar to Valentino flats in style with little arch support. The more cushioned styles like moccasins have a little more.

  • Jean March 29, 2017 at 8:38 pm

Hi Lynn – my petticoat is super old, I'm not even sure where it's from! May have been from an old costume. I don't often see them for sale anymore, but if you know how to sew, you can search Pinterest for DIY petticoat tutorial made using tulle (it seems pretty simple!)
