Wicked Tulips Farm // Petite-friendly floral + lace dress reviews

I've had this dress for a while now, but it's one of those pieces that I fall a little more in love with each wear. It was sold out last year and then there was a similar version, so I'm thrilled the exact style is now back at Nordstrom in both white and navy (see it on me below)! This isn't one of those pieces that sit in the back of my closet waiting for special occasions ... I always find a reason to break it out, and have dressed it down a number of ways including with a denim jacket, an army green utility jacket (a surprisingly cute pairing), casual flats, or even rubber boots!

I also wanted to share a few other petite-friendly dresses I tried on, each at under $50!

Lush ruffle floral dress sz S (2 colors), M.Gemi shoes (my review of their loafers)

This blue dress reminds me of one of my favorite JOA dresses from over a year ago. I'm actually trying on sz S, so an XS should fit someone my size perfectly! The fabric is lightweight with a very slight texture to it. There's a stretchy, elasticized waistband for comfort, and the skirt part has a lining.

Love Fire floral maxi dress xs (also comes in black)

I'm always on the lookout for maxi dresses that run a little short on the models, and will hopefully fit petite ladies without alterations! This very affordable one has adjustable shoulder straps and a gently flaring, A-line silhouette with double skirt slits. The XS fit pretty well on me in the torso after I adjusted the shoulder straps up, and the length hit just above the ground without heels on (I'm about 5 feet tall, for reference).

I was excited to try on this little wrap dress (comes in 6 color or print options), since almost all the lower reviews are due to it running too small! It does fit small, and I like that it was lined, but my issue was with the plunging neckline. This would not be work-appropriate on someone my height without a camisole underneath.

While at Nordstrom I also spotted one of my favorite leg-lengthening wedges from years ago, back in a slightly tweaked design and three colors (the light grey looks beautiful online)! See my post from 2015 on the old version. I tried the new ones on, and they are super lightweight like the ones I have. They still run a little narrow in the front toe area, so I'd go up half a size if you're usually between sizes.eliza j petites navy lace dress nordstrom
And here's my Eliza J lace dress in the navy option, in the original length. As shown in my previous review post, I had carefully trimmed off some length on my white one along a scalloped row (see picture below), and then did a basic hem job on the two layers of lining underneath. The lace hem is not prone to fraying, but if you're concerned about that, you can dab anti-fray (from any craft store) along the cut edges to help seal them. Unfortunately Eliza J doesn't make size 00p, so I did also take-in the waist on size 0P for a more fitted look.

Last spring I discovered this little Rhode Island tulip farm via Instagram, but it was about a week too late. I made sure to mark it on my calendar for this year, since the blooming window is very short and subject to weather conditions! We finally made it out there and I was in complete flower heaven. The fields were so much bigger and more beautiful than I expected, and they provide these cute little baskets and buckets for picking your own tulips. Sadly they just sold their last tickets for this year, but I hope some of you were able to visit after my IG posts (and if not, definitely plan ahead for next April - May!).

  27. Can you please recommned some Canadian available clothing brands for petite girls? Thank you!

  28. I like too much your dress and your rubber boots look wonderful with bare legs. Your feet remain clean and dry the whole day. A very nice choice! Only a little question: isn't it difficult to take these rain boots off when you put them without socks?
