Before the holidays get into full swing, Nick and I wanted to enjoy some downtime together on a mini getaway. I visited Napa this time last year and the wineries were so gorgeous with turning leaves, I couldn’t wait to go back. We ended up booking a trip with two of our friends at a little bed & breakfast right amidst the vineyards (will share more thoughts on this spot next week). It was just what we needed to relax & recharge before the hustle & bustle of the upcoming season!
I’m partnering with Express today to share this cozy his & hers look, which could also be cute for family holiday photos or a fall/winter engagement session! This v-neck tee dress (comes in 3 colors) is made of a lighter-weight, stretchy knit with a soft marled fleece texture. You’ll want to live in it year-round with knit tights in winter or simply flats in the summer. Unlike most swing dresses that are too long on me, this turned out to be a perfect shorter length for petites. The slightly higher hemline makes it easier to pair with both tall boots and ankle booties, without truncating the leg line too much.
I’m a sucker for pieces that can serve double duty, like this reversible scarf / wrap that goes from buffalo check on one side to a herringbone plaid! This is a plush, thicker scarf but in a manageable rectangular size. A few other cozy pieces that caught my eye: I haven’t tried on this popover hoodie yet, but it looks like it might be the same soft marled fleece material as my dress. I’m always looking for athleisure layering pieces to wear over leggings when running outside in this frigid weather! And if you’re an oversized sweater + leggings / jeans kinda girl, I liked this longer cable tunic (medium weight) for wearing off one shoulder. It’s now left in an olive color in all sizes; see the cream on me here and here in xxs.
Nick is a simple dresser and goes for pieces that are tailored and slim, but not so snug that they restrict movement. He found both this cotton flannel shirt and chino pants to be solid basics for the cooler weather, and both fit true to size.
