If you're not following
Fast Food & Fast Fashion on blog or
Twitter yet, then you're probably missing out on a lot of great deals (and cute outfits). I can't count the number of times I've scored something at a great price thanks to Elle. Earlier tonight she tweeted about this deal and I thought it was too great not to share:
Ann Taylor is having 40% off everything online, now including
excluding new arrivals. If you go to the sale section, there are a number of sale shoes left sortable by size. The
perfect pumps in navy are currently $59.88 PLUS an extra 40% off, making them a mere
$35.93 - 77% off retail price. The catch is that they are final sale, and there's no free shipping unless you order $150+. Be sure not to confuse these with the perfect pumps in the regular-priced section (I see a navy there too).
Sizing info: In my personal opinion they run true to size and possibly lean towards the bigger side. I am usually between 5 and 5.5 in all shoe brands, and I always order a 5 in these because leather may stretch out with wear.
Happy shopping! Thanks so much, Elle, for always sharing sales & deals!
Thank you for posting this! Are Ann Taylor Perfect Pumps true to size?
ReplyDeleteno....go a half size from your actual size. Trust me.
ReplyDeletea half size 'BIGGER" OR "SMALLER" ?
DeleteI'm not the same Anon as above, but I would suggest going a 1/2 size smaller. I usually wear size 8 and had to go down to a 7 1/2 for the black patent AT Perfect Pumps. In a previous post, Jean had also mentioned the patent pumps are a little more snug than they are in regular leather.
DeleteNice pump. Good price.
ReplyDeleteI think these navy pumps are patent leather and the ones that are not onsale are regular leather... Possibly?
ReplyDeleteVery confusing as the photo shows leather but description says patent. I'll just have to wait and be "surprised."
DeleteHello! I just e-mailed these pumps (THANK YOU SO MUCH JEAN!) and because I was curious as well, here is what the email said:
DeleteThank you for contacting Ann Taylor regarding the Perfect Pumps; style number 147092 you recently purchased online. In researching the product specifications of this item with our product team, I found that the Perfect Pumps is not the shiny type of texture but more of the smooth patent feel. I apologize for any disappointment this may have caused. Please be assured that our product team is updating the description of this item to accurately reflect the specifications of the Perfect Pumps.
So based on this, I'm assuming it will look like the bigger picture as featured and not so much "patent" as in shiny! Sorry to ruin the surprise, but I thought you'd like to know :) Cant wait to see what you have to say about these heels! Thanks again :) Ps. What were you expecting the shoe to be like?
Shoot, I'm always just a bit too late to get the size 5's! Smallest is a 6 now :(
ReplyDelete5 and 5.5 are already OOS. Probably a good thing because I don't find these all that comfortable but would have bought them at this price, and then regret it later. It makes me sad that so many bloggers rave about the AT perfect pumps and Cole Haans. Unfortunately it seems like Dansko has spoiled my feet for any with less support. Are you guys actually walking around (like commuting, running to catch the elevator, taking stairs, etc) in these, or am I just on my feet way at work way more than the average "office worker"?
ReplyDeleteI don't wear heels to commute, and I don't run around that much at the office. An average day will involve a few trips to the bathroom and kitchen, and maybe 10-15 minutes of walking outside to lunch and meetings. For this silhouette - a 3.5" sleek pump with a skinny heel (so can't compare these to wedges or thick sturdy heels), I've found these to be much more comfortable than other similar-looking heels I've tried on. If Dansko's are what work for you, then by all means stick to them because comfort is key.
DeleteToo bad I don't live in US...
ReplyDeleteThe Life After
go 1/2 size up. These aren't all that comfy. They are high heels afterall.
ReplyDeleteI wish they made them in a size 4!
ReplyDelete-Sharon
I'd be interested to know the answer to anon @10:44pm 's question. I have AT pumps in the kitten heel (too many pairs in my opinion) and haven't found them that comfortable as all the bloggers rave. Yes they are cushioned but my feet kill me after 3 hours of standing or walking in them.
ReplyDeleteJean any chance you could do a post on dressing for Boston winters/cold weather in general? I'm new to the east coast and having no cold tolerance, am finding it really hard to find outfits, especially boots and footwear, that don't end up making me look like the michelin man while being outside. Your expertise would be greatly appreciated!!
ReplyDeletekay
Tall boots that are flat or with a low wedge are a must here to keep legs warm, but I don't have any either. I've failed in yet another year of the search. Try wearing leggings under your jeans/pants and also layer up with shirts under sweaters, and then a lady-like coat like J.Crew's lady day or metro coat. They probably aren't as warm as puffer coats, but if you wear enough layers underneath, plus add a cozy scarf, gloves, and earmuffs, you will be fine.
DeleteI bought black and gray patent pumps from the Ann Taylor outlet a couple years ago and I love them! They're classic and comfortable, and I got them for a steal.
ReplyDeleteGrrr! The 5/5.5s are back, but the 6/6.5s are nowhere to be seen. Probably for the best - like Anonymous @ 22:44, I have little tolerance for non-Clarks-level comfort, so my pretty heels don't see much wear. I really should learn to deal with it, if only so people don't think I'm shorter than I really am! (This used to happen a lot in high school, when I lived in flats and other small ladies wore 3-4" heels every day. People used to think I was spectacularly teensy, when I'm actually 5'4"!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the post! i got them! Glee!
ReplyDeleteWent into the store last evening to figure out the size :).
This is indeed the perfect and all-around pumps which can be worn during office hours or with your sexy little black dress. :)
ReplyDeleteMan, I wish these fit me better! Thank you once again for the sale alert (and to Elle!).
ReplyDeleteTo the ladies who don't find these heels comfortable: Depending on your foot shape, bone structure, heredity, overall pain sensitivity, medical conditions, past injuries, age...the list goes on and on...some people's feet just don't react well to high heels. I've heard from ladies who can't even wear a small kitten heel without intense pain, and I've heard from ladies who can only wear 4" high heels (flats hurt their feet). A podiatrist could better explain why your feet prefer flats or heels, but the bottom line is, go with what makes you comfortable. No one looks cute in high heels if they're walking like each step is in agony. =)
Bah! I had a pair in my cart and while I was shopping around for other things to get free shipping, someone stole them. I have no use for Navy shoes, but my shoe guy can dye leather really easily for cheap so I was planning on turning these black.
ReplyDeleteFor those asking about sizing - I'm usually a 7.5/8 (I know, big feet for a little 5'1" lady). I have an 8 in these, and they're a little loose, but not enough to return. I'm going to try a 7.5 next.
Anon from 10:44 here, do you ladies who find AT pumps uncomfortable have recs for work pumps that you do like? I stalk the corporette shoe threads obsessively to find new brands, and it's depressing how many of them don't work for me. Typically 6-7 hours of my work day is spent on my feet, 4-5 of which are continuous without sitting down, so I have to go for shoes with good cushioning and arch support. I'm basically looking for Taryn Rose and Chie Mihara level of comfort at hopefully lower prices. Good thing low wedges are still fashionable right now or I'd be wearing Danskos everyday. And even MY MOM thinks Danskos are clunky old lady shoes.
ReplyDeleteLove your blog! I read it everyday and found the tips are so useful!! Thank you! I just started a blog about fitness/nutrition called Gym Rat at http://gymrat1026.blogspot.com/ and would love for you to stop by when you get the chance. Ciao!
ReplyDeleteJean, your readers might like this sale: Get an extra 40% off already marked-down sale items plus free shipping on any order from Talbots.com with the code 019588431. I don't know if this works on full-price items or not - I didn't try.
ReplyDeleteThanks, NS! I've re-shared your code on Twitter. Already heard from some ladies who happily got something thanks to you.
DeleteI was so excited to see this sale but alas, only 8+ sizes are available now on the site. :( The shoes sure sells out quite quickly.
ReplyDeleteI like those pumps, it looks so beautiful but I don't think I can walk in those. x.x So high!! And my mom says I should try them on since I'm not too sure about my shoe size!
ReplyDelete@NS: Thanks for that Talbots.com code! :) I used it and shared it with my friend!!
No size 5 or 5.5 now...........sad....
ReplyDeletewow! that is such a great deal. too bad my size is gone. :(
ReplyDeleteI couldn't sleep and woke up at 3am to see your tweet about this sale - and I got a size 6! Hooray! For all the questions about comfort - I wear high heels like the AT ones for 10-12 hour days and though my feet don't feel fabulous, I just deal. :)

ReplyDeleteThanks Jean!!!
ReplyDeleteHey guys, I just ended up purchasing the Perfect Pumps in "Cool Khaki". I know there has been lengthy discussion on this site about finding the perfect nude pump, and how AT doesn't make a good nude color. Has anyone tried this particular color- thoughts? They look perfect, so I'm hoping they work for my skin tone!
ReplyDeleteI also came here to ask Lindsay's exact question! Does the 'cool khaki' color work, and are the toes too pointy???
ReplyDeleteAnon + Lindsay - I haven't seen the Cool Khaki in person but it looks like a nice neutral. The "perfect" nude pump will differ for everyone because our skin colors and tones are all unique. Even if it's not a true nude pump, it looks like it will work well as a neutral pump to tone down colorful outfits.
DeleteI personally don't love the pointier version shown here ( http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/product/product%3A275344/AT-EXCLUDED-FROM-PROMOS-NEW-ARRIVALS/Patent-Perfect-Pointy-Pumps/275344?colorExplode=false&skuId=10605677&catid=cat620039&productPageType=search&defaultColor=7176 ) but Lindsay mentioned she go the Perfect Pump so I'm guessing it was the almond toe? I did see a few in that color on sale for the $36 on the same page as the navy.
What would you wear with a navy leather pump?
ReplyDeleteI'll have to see what shade of navy these are when they arrive, but off the top of my head a navy pump would look nice with white, camel brown, and prints (ie. stripes, polka dots, or other prints with a hint of navy).
DeleteYes, you are right Jean, I got the almond toe Perfect Pumps in the "cool khaki" color. Here is the exact shoe: http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/product/AT-Shoes/AT-Shoes-View-All/Perfect-Pumps/147092?colorExplode=false&skuId=85491069&catid=cata000020&productPageType=search&defaultColor=6600
ReplyDeleteAnd you're totally right that the perfect color will depend on my skin tone. i am blonde and very, very pale, so I am hoping that these won't be too dark for me. I'll report back once I see them in person! Thanks for the great info!
I just received the pump today and I'm a little lost as to what to wear with it. It seems too shiny for everyday office wear. Can you wear it with black skirts or is that a no-no? I'd love to see how you style this with your work skirts/dresses/outfits! Thanks :)
ReplyDeleteFor a heavier petite who hurts with almost any heel these are rather comfy so far! Thanks for the heads up Jean and Elle! I love that they are dark enough to pass for black depending on the lighting! The cut and shape is beautiful! Now I know why you love these so much.
ReplyDeleteJust got my pair of pumps and very happy with purchase! Thanks for sharing the info! Sunset
ReplyDeleteGreat Blog!! That was amazing. Your thought processing is wonderful. The way you tell the thing is awesome. You are really a master.

ugh so sad i missed this. i've recently developed an obsession with a perfect black and nude pump. i'm still choosing between ann taylor perfect pump vs cole haan air talia vs cole haan air violet. any thoughts on which one is most comfy or more value for money? i like the nude violet air from cole haan, but they don't sell it in singapore so some info is really going to help since returns are not very easy from here ;(
DeleteHi Grace,
DeleteI don't know if you're still deciding between shoes, but I was choosing between those exact three shoes. I didn't like the profile silhouette of the Air Violet (the heel seems slightly curved). I thought the Air Talia was fine and like the treads on the bottom, but ultimately found the Ann Taylor perfect leather pump to be slightly comfier if a little roomier. Given the difference in price ($200 for Air Talia vs $77 for perfect pumps on sale), I went with the perfect pumps and added some insoles.
Hope that helps!
-Lizzie
i missed it! but i got into perfect pumps after you raved about them! and oh, boy!!!!!!!! they really are heavenly!!!
ReplyDeletei heard that they are to come out with a nude patent soon & can't wait!!!
Hm, cannot find as good a deal as yours but just found a good deal: buy one get one 50% off to get this in a nudish color. Yay!
