Reader Rec: Trump pumps in small sizes (and various heights)

I receive so many reader recommendations through comments, FB, and Twitter...thank you guys for taking time out of your day to share a good find with us. A while back during my quest for leopard pumps, I received numerous rec's for the Ivanka Trump "Pinkette." Readers pointed out the classic colored & aptly sized animal spots, a sleek silhouette, genuine leather, and nice "ponyhair" upper. And I agreed! But aside from the fact that it's made by The Donald daughter's vanity line, I did not buy for a few reasons:

- No sizes found below a 6
- Over the $100 limit I set for leopard shoes
- And the clincher: heel height listed at 4.5" (w/ .5" platform) - whoa! Much too high for me for work.

Instead, I went for the comfy, chunky heeled CK's shown here, and never looked back. That is - until yesterday. A reader kindly linked me to these "Pinkish" pumps at Nordies, on sale. I took one look and was very confused. They looked exactly like the sky-high "Pinkette," but had a listed heel of 3.75" including a .75" platform. I assumed it was a measurement mistake, or they forgot to add the two. But no...per Nordies Alicia: "The heel height is 3.75" including the platform, so with the platform on this shoe, it actually feels like you are wearing a three inch heel but you will be raised 3 3/4 inches off the ground." Okay - got it, Alicia! And thanks for the floating visual : )
Left: Ivanka Trump Pinkish - sizes 4 to 12, 3.75" heel, on sale for $89.90, free ship both ways
Right: Ivanka Trump Amoros - sizes 5 to 9.5, 3.25" (?) heel, retails for $130, free ship both ways
Plus 7.5% cashback on Endless and 5% on Nordies if you go through ebates (referral).

After doing some reasearch, I found yet another similar pump from Ms. Trump, with an even lower heel and no platform. Heel height for the Amoros is listed at 3.5" by endless, 3" by Macy's, and a reviewer said her size 6's were 3.25" high. No idea which one is accurate. Both of these styles have received great reviews, even from initial skeptics of this brand. They are pricey even with a sale, but I've been shying away from bargain brands for this one, because it's easy to go wrong with a cheap leopard.

My quest for the perfect animal-print pumps have been filled with ups, downs, and false-positives, but hopefully some of you can benefit from my trials. In upcoming posts, I hope to show how leopard heels can be truly versatile and dare I say classic? They are winter tights-friendly and go effortlessly with black, brown, and brights. My favorite pairing to date is with a crisp red skirt.

PS - Fellow petite Mel showcases a live 360 view of these (plus quite the assortment of AT pumps) in her haul video. Start watching at 07:50 for the shoes. Only part I'm iffy on is the back strip.

  1. Isn't it pretty normal for smaller sizes of shoes to have lower heel heights? The data might all be accounted for by measuring from different sizes. I thought retailers usually measure heel heights from a size 7 or 8. I think my (size 5) heels are almost always lower than listed. After all theta is the essential design component, not sin(theta). :P

  2. Those would look great with the red skirt!! I would have never thought of it. :)

  3. @hugstiem That would make sense, wouldn't it? I only wish more manufacturers considered that and made their shoes proportionally. The shoes that I order from mainstream retailers, usually at the smallest size they offer, typically measure exactly the same heel height as what is listed online.

  4. I actually wore my leopard Pinkish pumps today!! I love them, they are so cute. They were a little uncomfortable at the end of the day, but last time I wore them with pantyhose (yep) and they felt great for 12+ hours. I'm 5'7" and I didn't find the heels too tall for work, but my office is super casual (i.e., men in flip flops). Happy shopping! :)

  5. I have these that are similar to what you found:

I don't know if they're still available anywhere; I bought mine around 8 months ago.

  7. I'm a little off topic, but those with petite feet might want to check out Nordstrom's selection of Tory Burch flats on sale. I see a few styles in size 4 and 4.5 for under $125.

  8. Wow, 3"(?) heels are still too high for me. But the style is very trendy. I do like the Pinkish one better. Hopefully Endless.com will have another sale.

  9. Yay! Size 4 heels XD
However, I'm always skeptical about purchasing shoes online because I'm worried about the fit. I always have to try the shoes on before I buy them... Maybe because I have weird feet =_=

  10. Oh wow. Size 4 - that is super small. Great shoes though. Love the prints.

  11. @Ruth I was wondering if you could share whether this pump provides any toe cleavage or not. I just found it and it is super cute, and rather at a good price, and just wanted more info on the fit. Thanks!

  13. I was going to send you this rec too! But I see one of the reviewers included a photo and there's quite a bit of toe coverage. :) I love that they don't have a visible platform, it look so much more classic and sleek this way. Exactly what I'm looking for.

  14. A couple months ago I purchased Calvin Klein Jeans Bailey flats in leopard print on calf from piperlime.com. $59 plus free shipping. Unfortunately they no longer have the smaller sizes but I absolutely love them and they have held up well in the past couple months so I thought I'd recommend them anyway... (In case some readers are petite with clown feet like me. :-P)

  15. I was wondering if anyone has checked out the Max Studio Marais Leopard pump? DSW may be all out of smaller sizes right now. I'm still waiting for mine to arrive...

  16. @Ruth @Anonymous The Max Studio Maris pump seems to be a popular choice. I did go find them and try them on after seeing them on a fellow blogger, Callandra. I loved them on her, but this is what they look like on me: http://img.ly/aCWq

They were wide on my feet and felt a bit boat-like. In response to Ruth, these would show very minimal toe cleavage on me but it also depends on how long your toes are, I suppose : )

  17. I own the Trump shoes in a different color and, sadly, they are the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE shoes I have EVER worn. It is impossible to break them in so they continuously create hot spots and bruises on my feet. Worst of all, I wore them for a event and the shoes completely bruised and ruined my big toe nails such that 7 months later they are still growing out damaged. Unfortunate because they are cute shoes, but beware!

  19. Hi Jean! Great find! A little OT, but could you please do a post on how to shop for winter tights? Thanks!

I've been eyeing some (fleece-lined!) ones on eBay -- Have you tried any off there? :)

  20. @LaLaaLove Those sound fun...I only buy plain tights in black, brown, gray, olive, etc for wearing under skirts and probably don't have any tips on shopping for more fun ones. I buy mine from H&M or Target : )

@Sally Oh dear...that sounds terrible! I got them to try on and to see in person.

  21. @E

Just put them on to see...
They show a hint of cleavage, the most being about a quarter-inch line/crease/space between toes between the pinky and ring toes. The big toe to second toe just shows the base of the crease/line where toes connect to the foot. Granted, I have long toes; my pinky toe is 1" long from the underside crease to the tip. Hope that helps! The vamp is cut low, but if you have short toes, I don't think there would be any toe cleavage.

  22. Jean, I saw your link to the Marais. Wow they look so different on you! I totally get the boat effect. I call that the Minnie Mouse. I have such an issue with being able to see the sides of a shoe on my foot. Drives me nuts! :D The vamp looks lower cut on mine; amazing how different feet look in the same shoe! (I never gave it much thought.)

  23. I purchased the pair with the higher heel and I love them! They are a gorgeous shoe that I plan to wear for years. However, I agree. It probably isn't office appropriate in a more conservative workplace.

  24. Ok, so my feet are a 7.5, but I do own the Pinkish pumps in the animal print...and I love them! They feel really great quality-wise, and they are actually quite comfortable considering their height. I wore them to an event that had me standing/walking for 4-5 hours and it was only towards the end that I started feeling a twinge of pain...pretty good!

  25. I'm a size 4.5 shoe - a real challenge. I recently found out the Corso Como brand started making my size. This brand is comfy - nicely cushioned insoles and I've long been jealous of my friends with "normal size feet" for this brand. I recently bought the snakeskin pump. And I LOVE them. Just enough print to be fun, but still a very neutral shoe that goes with almost anything. They are $128 at Nordstrom.

  26. @Sally

I also have the Ivanka Trump Pinkish (I think they are "Pinkish" - whichever ones are highest) shoes in the leopard and I agree with Sally, they are the MOST UNCOMFORTABLE SHOES EVER. I ordered them online and thought they were the lower Amoro pump, and didn't check before I wore them the first time. They are so stiff, have no cushioning, and rub all over your feet creating blisters and cuts. I have tried everything to break them in or make them more comfortable, but nothing has worked. One of my worst purchases ever. I ended up buying the Calvin Klein Elara's when I got a Piperlime coupon, so hopefully those will work out when they arrive (I love Calvin Klein for work shoes, so I have hope). Unfortunately I don't think I can return the Ivanka Trump pumps to Nordstrom anymore because I've worn them around five times and I threw away the box. I may just end up donating them to a local women's shelter for their Christmas clothes drive.
