Ends Wednesday 11/2 - 20% off at Sephora Online

If you haven't yet shopped Sephora's F&F promo, click here for a 20% off online coupon, plus go through eBates (referral) for another 4% cash back. I've been waiting patiently for this to restock on everyday favorites.
sephora
1. Make Up For Ever Duo Mat foundation (I wear shade 203) - I used to be a Bare Minerals user for years, but the coverage was just so sheer regardless of how many layers I put on. I've been hooked on this powder foundation because it takes seconds to apply (see in this video), yet has sufficient coverage to even out my splotchy skin tone.

2. Clarisonic replacement heads - The Clarisonic Mia is the travel-sized version of a large vibrating brush that cleans and "smooths" your skin. Since I wear a powder foundation, it's critical to exfoliate off unsightly dry skin flakes on my face - which this brush does well, gently. Also, I'm paranoid about removing all makeup before bed ever since I've been wearing more of it. After washing my face with my hands and gentle african black soap (from this seller), I'd use my Clarisonic, and the brush head would still be covered with makeup that I missed. It's amazing how much gunk gets left on your face that you don't realize!

  1. I really want to try that powder foundation! I am currently using the liquid version. I am glad you mentioned that Bare Minerals coverage is so minimal...it was another product I was considering.

I highly recommend Caudalie Grape Water. I originally put it in my shopping basket to get free shipping, but now I am hooked. I use it during my lunch break when I touch up my makeup. Also great on warm days.

And if you spend over $100 on an order, I suggest splitting your order in two. I was a little sneaky last time and did that so I could get two different free promotional items, in addition to the three free samples. :p I felt bad doing it, though! Lol!

  2. Sephora is being wierd! I placed my second order at Sephora on the 25th and they cancelled the order saying that the items were out of stock. But they still have the items on the website. Made two other orders to make sure I get the items with 20% off. Hopefully they wont cancel them too!

  4. Love your blog. I am 5'1" and do not blog but I have learned so much by following you and other petite fashionistas, especially the petite fashion challenges. I have a suggestion: Outerwear can be particularly challenging for petites. Why not a PFC called OUTERWEAR CHIC.. This would be helpful with the cold winter months approaching...The look could be dressy or casual and must include an outerwear garment appropriate for being outdoors in inclement weather.

  5. I really need to try that foundation! I'm currently using MUFE HD so, I'll have to try the powder version out. Is it cakey at all? I've generally had better luck with liquid foundation that powder because I have dry skin. :(

I still haven't placed my F&F order yet - I was planning on visiting Sephora just to look around beforehand.

  6. That's interesting what you say about the BareMinerals foundation. Do you use a dense kabuki brush? I have a very difficult to match skin tone (zero pink undertone) and I saw that one of their shades seemed close. I've been using Alima Pure for years and I love it, but sometimes I just like to experiment anyway so I decided to try the BareMinerals and see if I liked it just as much as my beloved Alima.

  7. a lot of people have been having problems with sephora cancelling orders for various reasons, like cc issues, oos items, etc. i had my first one cancelled and am expecting my next one to be, too. their cs is not helpful. for powder foundation i use everyday minerals intensive base. they have lots of colors (i use light neutral) and have different formulations for more or less coverage

  11. Do you moisturize after the clarisonic? So many people I know use the Clarisonic but I've always hesitated to try... Now I want to instead of beaded exfoliants. It's not too harsh to the skin?

  12. thanks jean! gonna take this f&f sale to get some early xmas gifts!

  13. Ooh, I'll have to check out the Makeup For Ever Minerals next time I'm in Sephora (of course, I just restocked my Bare Minerals...). I would like more coverage, if I can still get the hardly/not-wearing-anything look.

  14. I recently found your blog, and I am hooked! I am 5'2" and ~100 lbs, so I face many of the same fashion challenges. I love the pics you post, as well as the deals you share. I just took advantage of the Sephora F&F to finally get the Clarisonic Mia at a huge savings! Keep 'em coming!

  15. 20% OFF!? I just placed an order a week ago and got my items last Friday. I have to check out the Clarisonic brush.

My favorite I got at Sephora is my Benefit Dandelion blush. It is a light pink blush, goes on perfectly like you just rushed out of the house look.

  17. @Michelle There's no shame in doing so! Don't feel bad for getting your money's worth! I was buying two eye creams for my aunt today and each were over the gift with purchase minimum. I asked the SA if I could break it into two transactions to get two gift baggies and she said no prob : )

@Nitu Yikes, if you call customer service, I hope they can re-order for you instead of you having to go through the hassle of reordering twice!

@Janice I love outerwear! Will be sure to mention it if a future PFC host needs topic ideas.

@Pretty Me Purple Funny, I've heard so much good stuff about MUFE HD, but I'm anti the time it takes to apply liquid foundation and thus will never find out how great it is.

@Cher I used to use the kabuki brush form Bare Minerals. I hope the new foundation you ordered works out! Hard to match skin is tough : /

@JulieY I think F&F is once a year, and then they have a 20% off or more promo for their top customers.

@Vivian I use my trusty eucerin scentless daily moisturizer every time after washing my face. I'm scared of beaded exfoliants and any type of scrub. i think the Clarisonic is fairly gentle, esp the sensitive head.

@dietingfashions @DSK Steph Thank you for the rec's!

@Laurie Hope you like it! It was my first and only beauty splurge and I use it all the time.

@Anonymous Lol, I wear the same look every single day, so no new content to share : P

  18. I've been wanting the clarisonic for so long, but the price tag is kinda hefty at this point. I wonder if the Neutrogena brand is any good. They have a similar product but at $20.

  19. Hi Jean, Just wondering what type of skin you have. This is the first time I've heard of the African black soap and I'm wondering if it's good for dry skin.

  20. I currently use an all natural bar soap for acne-prone skin, but I'm also wondering about this African black soap! Do you have acne and if so, does this help control it?

    ReplyDelete
  21. @Anonymous I don't have acne-prone skin, just some random zits here and there, but I don't think african black soap has any acne-targeting agents in it. I just use it to wash my face without irritating it, because I'm allergic to scented face products.

@Anonymous I have dry skin, and african black soap leaves my skin "squeaky" clean, so it's critical to moisturize afterwards. It's not a moisturizing agent, so I always use my truly Eucerin scentless lotion after washing my face.

    @bevy I saw those! And honestly...I can't imagine how they'd be that different : )

  22. Hi Jean, Since you seem to be so conscious about spending, I wanted to ask what were your considerations when you purchased your Clairsonic? I'm thinking of buying one next time a sale comes around and I'm stuck between Mia, Mia2, and Plus. The reason I'm considering a Plus is because I normally use a loofah for removing ashy skin and then go in with shea butter for moisture and the Plus has a body mode.
