AT items are still pricey after the discount, so I recommend quality wardrobe staples like perfect pumps and tropical wool pencil skirts (I like that these don't wrinkle, but 00P is still big for someone my size) over trendy pieces. Since someone always asks about perfect pump sizing - I wear between a 5 and 5.5 but sized down to a 5 on all my AT pumps because I like a snug fit. Regular leather stretches out a little with wear. Patent leather is stiffer and stretches out less, but is more scratch/stain resistant. Readers - Any successful finds to share from AT's Fall collection?

sigh...I really need a stackable coupon. I have 12 items in my cart that I've been wanting to check out for some time now but spending $75 on a polyester top (x12) still seems a bit frivolous. Good call on recommending the "classic" AT pieces...those are usually the first to go.
ReplyDeleteps WELCOME8 (25% off on one item) can be stacked if you call their 1800 number but that doesn't really help me because they refuse to apply it 12 times (haha unsurprising...I am just unreasonable). but then it sort of cancels out the shipping...what happened to cardholders getting free shipping?!
ReplyDeleteI got the whole foods coupon, too. Can always use it. I think I'll wait for stackable coupons too :)
ReplyDeleteTHanks for posting. Post baby.. I need new work clothes.
ReplyDeleteI am thinking about picking up the downtown cape. It's not available in petie sizes though :( I’ll see if I can find it in store first before ordering.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the heads up on the AT discount! I have been keeping my eye out for a pair of the Patent Perfect Pumps and this may just be my chance :)
ReplyDelete@Elle
ReplyDeleteThe welcome8 coupon is not stackable :(
Do the outlet stores carry the perfect pumps?
ReplyDeleteI absolutely adore your blog and follow you on bloglovin :) Please keep the excellent posts coming!!

40% without a stackable coupon just makes all of the items still much too expensive. I should check out the sale in store (though I usually don't like going to the physical store). I wish they were selling their perfect peeptoe pump without the lizard skin.
ReplyDeleteI think I'll wait for a stackable coupon :)
I'm debating between the AT perfect pump and Cole Haan Air Talia. Are the AT pumps TTS?
ReplyDeleteI bought the "exotic perfect skinny belt" a few weeks ago. I was so excited to find it in an XS (in the store). Belts almost never fit.
ReplyDeleteIf anyone wants to check it out, it's here:

@Anonymous bummer! The CS agent I spoke to was happy to apply it to my order (but his supervisor had to override it manually) but wouldn't do more than one transaction using the code. Could be hit or miss. :( sorry that it didn't work out for you. The thing with phone orders is that the agent assisting you plays a huge role in if certain discounts get applied. This one time an agent 1) waved shipping for me on a $15 order 2) applied an additional 30% off code without my asking but other times it takes a lot of persuading for them to apply any kind of discount on top of these 40% off sales.
ReplyDeleteDon't forget to go through mrrebates for 3% back. Every little bit helps.
ReplyDeleteHi Jean! I tried on this Zara dress in a size S and it was way too tight for me, but I thought of you! I vary between sizes 2 & 4 at H&M, so this dress might fit you better:

Ahhhh! Just spent $180 on the tropical wool pencil skirt and a pair of perfect pumps. I guess this is my only chance to get them BOTH at this price, so I took the opportunity. Thanks, Jean, for all the recommendations and reviews! We'll see how the skirt and pumps work... :)

hey jean, i just picked up the silk blouse with contrast lapel and the modern skinny jeans. In your expert opinion, do you think these are staple, time-tested, worth it items? the (blurry) picture is on my blog: categoricallymiscellaneous.blogspot.com.
ReplyDelete@DA I knew what dress you were going to link to before I even clicked! I was in Zara a few weeks ago and tried on some of the juniors trf dresses in size small and they fit pretty decently. The quality wasn't that impressive though (just a thick ponte material) an the prices were stil $50 to $80 so I passed, but it is nice to know they fit.
ReplyDelete@Anonymous Thanks for the reminder - it's easy to forget the cash back sites.
@Mary Ann I have it in yellow from earlier and really like it! had to punch a few extra holes, but the quality is nice and with 40% off it was do-able.
@blackcaviar I think they are TTS if not half a size big.
@Chris They do, but they're faux leather and feel a bit plasticy!
I'm always glad when people share their coupon codes, so I want to return the favor.
ReplyDeleteI got this in the snail mail yesterday:
code 10000002787 for $25 off full-price purchase of $125+ online
Hope this helps!
ordered the kamela stamped leather wedges and the crossing paths print skirt. and i can vouch that the code the previous commenter posted did indeed work with my order :) thanks!
ReplyDeleteBrowsing through the last few flyers from Ann Taylor and LOFT, I notice that *all* the models are white. Most of them are blonde. It's beginning to make me wonder whether I should really be patronizing Ann Taylor at all.
ReplyDeleteJean, have you thought about trying to pressure AT to employ an advertising campaign that reflects its diverse clientele? You've got almost 4,000 followers, many of whom are Asian --and when was the last time we saw an Asian model in an Ann Taylor flyer?
@Anonymous I don't pay much attentions to the models used in advertisements but I have to say I did notice their latest "how we wear it" feature via Facebook, Twitter, and also their website ( http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/editorial/editorialCategory%3Acat150008/ANN-How-We-Wear-It/cat150008?supCat=cata00006&loc=HPBox4_HWWI_Sept&ICID=HPBox4_HWWI_Sept_091411 ) is very diverse with an Asian, Afrian American, and Caucasian employee. I also have to say they are one of the few, few companies that really pay attention to supporting the petite community, offering petite sizing, and helping build awareness for petite bloggers through multiple forms of their social media. One step at a time, I suppose!
ReplyDelete@AnnaThank you for sharing this with us!
@blackcaviar - I have the Cole Haan Air Carma, which is the Talia plus a small platform, and I just got the AT perfect pump with this last sale. The AT is soooo much more comfortable, and it is half as expensive. I am between 2 sizes and the half size down fit much better, as people have mentioned.
