LOFT: In Stores Now

LOFT is currently having 40% off tees as well as all sale items, stack-able with their 25% off full-priced items. For $20.02 (was $44.50), I brought home this Lace Yoke Top in XXSP to mull over. My lace print tee got so much wear, I wouldn't mind a dark, gloomy rendition as well. But I can't decide which is better - the LOFT or the Ann Taylor version?
Lace overlay seems to be a common theme at LOFT this season. Here is the Lace Applique Sweater Dress that looks amazing on the model, but frumpy on me in XXSP. Very comfy, though. Passed.
And here's the Pima Cotton Ruffle Front Cardigan on me in XXSP, almost an exact rendition of the popular one first blogged about by Kelly in August 2010. Why oh why won't LOFT take a clue from J.Crew and offer less dull color options? Please no more colors that make me look like a corpse! Passed.
Lastly, I grabbed these Marisa Boot-Cut Ponte Pants just so you wouldn't have to see my granny panties, but I was pleasantly surprised when a 00P fit snugly. LOFT pants and skirts are always too big for me. Although the waist/hips/thigh fit perfectly, the inseam will be too short on me with heels. I recommend these pants in petite for women under 5 feet tall, or for flats/low-heels only. Passed.
Readers - Did you pick anything up from today's stackable sale?

  1. That first top is beautiful, I adore the lace detail on top just the right amount of lace. I personally like the Loft version.

  2. jean-- i love that lace tee on you. i'd like to see the AT version on you too before i can judge which i like better. lol. the dress is frumpy and the color of that sweater is definitely dull. i have tried loft pants and you are right, their inseams can be oddly short (never thought i'd ever say that bc i have super short legs --lol!)

  3. I like the Loft lace top better than the Ann Taylor version. I enjoy reading your posts! Thanks for the inspiration! How do you find out about all the sales?

  4. Aww, you described the tee as dark and gloomy? I love gray and I think the combo is beautiful. The slouchy fit on you is just right! This top is much better and more versatile than the AT top you linked. The lace on that one seems like an oddly placed rectangle.

Loft's lace sweatshirt in regular sizes is sold out :( So I might pick up the same lace tee and the Marisa pants you passed on since I need some black pants to wear with flats.

  5. Oh! I wonder if those pants would be better in a oor. One of these days I should try out a oor from LOFT. They are not available in stores here, so I will await free shipping!

At first I lean towards the AT one, because it is more fitted. However, it seems like your bra would show through more. Have plastic bra straps? Or you could go strapless if you do not mind. I still need a better strapless bra. Mine falls. :/

  6. I like the lighter shade of gray in the AT top better; it makes the black lace stand out more. Though it does seem more fitted and seems to flatten out the model's bust. On the other hand, the shoulders in the LOFT shirt seem very wide and boxy and make your top half seem much wider than your hips. I'd say pass on both shirts until your find one that completely satisfies you.

  7. I think I like the LOFT one better, I like how the lace is an overlay and not see through. I would also return it if you're not in love with it.

I'm not sure I like LOFT's lace offerings this Fall. The one lace top I like only comes in regular and not petite (tiered shell)

I tried on the same dress! It too looked very frumpy on me.

I bought a lot of shirts, including one of their striped sweaters. I actually tried buying some of them in regular - I'm just hoping they're not too overly huge but I guess I'll just have to return them if they don't fit. What I'm looking forward to the most though are their coats - for some reason their coats this season are really appealing to me (at least in the ads :D)

  8. Hmm, i think i might like the AT version better d/t the sleeve length. I actually really like that sweater dress, it looks like it, well, had potential. I agree about the colors!! J. Crew has the best color selection. Neutrals are great, but how many dull colors does one need?

  9. Interesting how both stores have such similar tops! This one does look cute on you. I agree about the colors at LOFT this month...they have some cute stuff, but not much color...day and night from J Crew

  10. Jean, the top that I am wearing in my latest post is a tee and not a cardigan. Maybe that's why it wasn't part of the 40% off promotion. Yesterday, I didn't know the 25% off promotion is stackable. The SA didn't mention it at all. I really love the fit of that tee and want to get the white one too. I tried on the dress as well but wasn't feeling it.

  11. Not taking advantage of this promotion- but if you are interested in purchasing something at BR, here is a code I received via email that can only be used once: VH6BD6PKRDTV

It is good for 40% off two full priced items. Enjoy and keep up the great work, Jean!

  12. That dress looks cute on you! But I also feel like loft dresses look good on the models but horrible on me...I only have one from there that's worked.

  13. I'd choose the LOFT one too, but really, none of these items.

  14. I love the first top the most - it's very chic on you and the price is great.

  15. I vote for the Loft version. The see-through lace on the AT one is a bit sexy for work, and I don't like the sleeves.

  16. Loft always seems to have washed out colors, season after season. Give me something saturated already!
The lace tee is cute enough, but I really wish they'd made a top version of the sweater dress. I saw it and was so excited up until I realized it was a dress. 1MadScientist is right, their dresses are cut very dumpy and square-ish in the torso. They must use clips on the models.

  17. Thanks for the review, Jean!

I nice to know that LOFT still has some good pants. I like black in the colder months; I might have to give these a try.

  18. I totally agree about the color selection. Please give us some actual colors, not the same old shades of oatmeal and gray!
