I also tried on the Petite Color Block Shell, on sale for $30 or less, but it was too generously cut for me in length and at the armholes. Pictured below is the size 00P in Dark Amber (also available in an ivory).

Shorts: H&M sz 2, Heels: Aldo (old), Watch: Michael Kors Tortoise Jet Set

This is going on in-stores too, but I'm not sure if the coupon is 1-time use. If you're going, doesn't hurt to try:
Readers - Are you picking anything up from this sale?

I tried that same top on but passed...and I'm actually getting ready to head to AT to do some damage as we speak :)
ReplyDeleteyou look stunning!!!love your outfit!!
ReplyDeletekisses from prague and have a great day!

i dont plan on stopping by. i've only seen a few things that im interested in. although i do have a $20 rewards. well, perhaps just one top?
ReplyDeleteSooo beautiful! I wanna have your body, you are sooo perfect... (: I love the shirt! ♥

I think that top looks great on you! I love relaxed fit, slouchy (not TOO slouchy) tops. It gives you that casual -- yet stylish -- air.
ReplyDeleteI really like the color block top! Too bad it doesn't fit well.
ReplyDeleteYeah I think the top is slightly big for you. But the picture where you tuck in the top looks not bad at all. I might go to the store this weekend. Will try if it's available. ;)
ReplyDeletei echo the comments above when i say you look so beautiful! i wish i had your hair~
ReplyDeletei've been looking into buying more shells for work wear. thanks!
gonna check out some stuff ping posted about. see quality in person. mb a small bracelet will appear and I will snatch it up. Will report back. also, this wkd. hunting down AE jeans. wish me luck!
ReplyDeleteI actually like the little slouchy fit on the top - tucked in or just worn out, it's very pretty on you. The top reminds me a lot of the lace/silk version J.Crew had earlier this year.
ReplyDeleteHaha..so much for the "we are not doing promos til November." I was glad to see this one as I have been waiting for a 40% promo forever to snag the perfect pumps in navy.
ReplyDeleteTo get free shipping I added a little twist neck shell http://www.anntaylor.com/ann/product/AT-Petites/AT-Petite-Blouses-%26-Tops/Petite-Twist-Front-Blouse/264594?colorExplode=false&skuId=89722633&catid=cata000045&productPageType=saleProducts&defaultColor=9233
in a few colors at $25 each. At present I do not intend to keep them but isn't it funny how those "free shipping filler" items sometimes end up being closet staples?
You look adorable as usual and I love how that watch turned out on you!!! Sorry I cannot make the meetup in Brighton - hope to make the next one!
I love the top.I got the tulip dress which has the same colors as you top.

I love the colors of your top! Those two look so complimenting. Maybe it's your heels, but you look so tall! :)
ReplyDeleteLove you in shorts!!! Sexy long legs!
ReplyDeletethanks for the promo code. the top is cute on you but too bad it's a little too big. you look tall in these pics, it must be the shorts. you should wear shorts more often cause you look great in them. ;)
ReplyDeleteI just walked in to Ann Taylor a couple of days ago when I saw their "50% off already reduced styles" sign and walked out with an almost perfect black maxi skirt with elastic waistband in XS for $20, originally $69. The fabric is soft, drapes well, and moves so beautifully with a little flare as I walk. Downside: it's about 5 inches too long. I've been hunting for one since last fall so I'm a little behind the trend, but it's perfect for me!
ReplyDeleteI don't think anything, for once =O! Some of the Fall LOFT pieces have really caught my eye though. I may wander in though to see there's anything that seems affordable enough :)
ReplyDeleteAubreyOhDang - let me know how those pieces work out for you =)
I gotta say that even with their 40% off coupie, a lot of stuff still seems pretty expensive. I looked at the wine colored front placket silk shirt but when all is said and done and you add in shipping, you are still talking about $67 for a dress shirt which ain't cheap. Even your beloved lace skirt works out to be around $80. And while I appreciate the minimalist vibe of AT this season I have to seriously question whether these pieces are classics to wear for more than one season, I think some of it you'd get bored wearing.
ReplyDeletethe top looks really cute on you.
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing - what stunning legs and hair! You should just wear shorts all year round! As for AT purchases, I just ordered the chocolate brown modern motorcycle jacket. My local AT did not have any petite sizes in the store so I tried on the regular size in a 2. Of course, it swam on me (I am 5'2" and 105 pounds) but the jacket is gorgeous. I ordered the xxs, xs, and small, all in petite, and will return the two that do not fit. The 40% brought the price down from almost $200 to $118. Also will get the leopard scarf since that looked amazing with the jacket when I tried them on together in the store.
ReplyDeleteI know you love their perfect pump, but I was just curious if you hand any thoughts on their kitten heels.
ReplyDeleteit's too bad that top is too big on you. i really like the colorblocking. i'm actually trying to stay away from buying anything this weekend. i'm over budget already for August... :(
ReplyDeleteHi Jean! I think the top looks amazing on you. But if you change your mind and is returning it, I would love to buy it from you :)
ReplyDeleteNhia
Love the look! And this is completely off topic, but what are your thoughts on the louis vuitton damier sac plat?? Looking to get it as a work bag. Currently using a longchamp le pliage but my papers always get rolled and wrinkled...
ReplyDeleteAre you keeping the shell? I like the loose fit on you! I think it looks really good worn alone or tucked in. It's a great change for the usual fitted clothing you wear : )
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your comments! This shell would be lovely on someone just a smidge bigger (I don't like being indecently exposed through the armholes) plus I am stringently evaluating each piece for "keeper" potential ; )
ReplyDelete@May I saw that skirt, very comfortable. Great find, and I'm sure a hem job won't be too hard to DIY!
@Anonymous I agree that everything seems expensive this season, especially for non-classics. I feel spoiled but the steep price cuts and end of season clearances from the very beginning of this year, when retailers were trying to push and clear late 2010 merchandise. Ann Taylor seems to slowly go up in price, so we just have to be keen and on the lookout for stack-able sales and discounts to make it worth it. I've only bought one black&white print skirt so far from them at 40% plus 20% off, and I thought that was pricey for what it was.
@Anonymous That jacket is very beautiful and on the wishlist of a few friends. Paired with the leopard scarf, it sounds so chic for cooler weather.
@Anonymous Hi there, I personally haven't tried their kitten heels but it seems like a great option and silhouette for those who seek out a lower heel. I usually buy completely flat shoes for commuting, or 3.5" heels for work, so I haven't tried the kitten heels on before
@Anonymous Ah, I'm sorry Nhia! I returned it already, but it wasn't on sale as low as the current prices anyways.
@Anonymous How tall are you? The sac plat's measurements at 16" height and 15" length seem very large and may overwhelm a smaller frame? I agree I don't like the lack of structure of the Longchamp though...so saggy and results in wrinkled documents.
Thanks for the heads up on the sale! I got that lace skirt you blogged about a few posts back...the one you passed up because the SA did not "forsee any 40% off promos"...lol. Guess she was wrong!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the coupon! I took advantage of the 40% off and purchased the Ann Taylor modern denim skinny jeans. I love the denim fabric blend - it's super flattering - and the 40% took it from $88 to $52 for a much more affordable price. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the info about the sale!! I got a trench halter dress other day @ an additional 50% off. :)
ReplyDeletejenny
I've been eyeing that shell myself! I actually like the slouchy top on you - although, if it is too big in the arm holes and your bra shows, it is a no-no.
ReplyDeleteLove that shirt, so modern and the color combination is great.
