Nick patiently helped me re-filmed, but as luck would have it...during a hard drive "purge" we somehow permanently deleted the entire new video and all the backup files
Old photo: Theory Gabe blazer sz 00 (sold to Elle!), H&M leggings sz 2
Tory Burch Sohpie wedges sz 5.5, J.crew and pearl layered necklaces
Alas, I am pulling this from the YT rejects archive. The last idea (pictured above) was inspired by IamKhatu's cameo brooch tutorial, which actually spurred my desire to find a vintage Peri one. For more styling ideas, Elle previously posted a "wear it 5 ways" with her flower.
The star of the video is a J.Crew hair flower crudely turned pin from this oldie post, when I first "came out" from anonymous blogging. Although I still think these flower thingiemajigs are pretty, I haven't reached for one in weeks. My current obsession is with bold, colorful necklaces. I'm trying to collect affordable -yet not too cheap and costumey- gems and baubles to spice up my simple wardrobe. Coral, turquoise, emerald, lapis...I love it all.
Readers - what is your Spring/Summer accessory obsession?

I love it!!!

I really enjoyed this video...my fav way that you showed was the belt....I see a lot of flower belts but did not think about attaching one of my own! :)
ReplyDeleteJean,
ReplyDeleteSo may fabulous ideas!! I'm so glad that you decided to go to the extra effort to post this! My favorite is the belt and necklace! Thanks for sharing your creativity!!
I love flower pins as well as pearls and necklaces...anything pretty! Thx for the video Jean...I don't know how u do it! U must have some major patience:-)
ReplyDeleteThese videos must take forever to film, edit and then upload...I don't know how you do it but thanks for doing it because they are always fun to watch. I saw some really pretty flower pins at J. Crew recently (like the ones that Annie did a tutorial on) and I think I am going to try to convert them as well. I want to make my own flower belt...I keep missing out on those J. Crew ones!
ReplyDeletep.s. speaking of the gabe b. - I feel like it's one of my luckiest purchases ever...back when the AN marketplace was less stalked and I had the luxury of asking a million questions before taking forever to pay...that blazer is still retailing for full price on Revolve and here I am having paid only a fraction of retail. So thank you for that as well...(beginning to feel like a moocher for benefiting from your purchases)
OMG! This is hilarious, "English was my second language" is the excuse I use ALL OF THE TIME! LOL!!! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat job again Jean! Love the last flower chain thing! And when did you get that mannequin?
ReplyDeleteI actually really like your lip color in this video!
ReplyDeleteEnglish is my third language and I still can barely talk. LOL! I talk like a preschool teacher 24/7. I think your video was fantastic Jean and your lipstick color is so pretty!
ReplyDeleteHi Jean, I have been following your blog for the past few months and I owe you a huge "thank you", you have given me so many great ideas! Keep up the great work!
ReplyDeletePS What colour and brand is the nail polish that you are wearing in this video?
Amy
@Amy Adkins @Jarucha Glad you guys liked it! I'm happy to share : )
ReplyDelete@Elle Gabe is their MOST classic blazer so I have no idea how I got it for that price, at Bloomies nonetheless. This pic reminds me of how long it is on me so I couldn't be happier that it went to a good home.
@curls-and-pearls Thanks Elaine! It's from a gift shop that closed down...it's just a muslin/wood mannequin from the Philippines. Sadly not my size but I love how it looks, and it holds my scarves, belts and necklaces : )
@Anonymous Thanks Amy!! It's a polish from Ulta called "Fine Pruned" ... I believe it was $5 and then buy one get one free. it's a dark taupe-purple, so pretty. A surprisingly similar color is "Hot coco" by Essie.
I'm 4'11" and LOVE your blog. I sell an entire line of brooch/necklace pieces, called the "LaCoco" collection (inspired by Coco Chanel). They're high quality; on-trend and so affordable. Check 'em out! www.stelladot.com/staciah
ReplyDeleteNice video...i always enjoy watching your videos.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite accessories this Spring happen to be earrings. I get motivated to wear colorful ones almost everyday.
I love this!! I need a pin...or 5. ^_^
ReplyDeleteThis spring/summer I am obsessing over floppy straw hats. I think if I could find a "petite" hat I could pull it off...Sadly, I'm having such trouble finding hats for small heads that don't look like kids hats =/
The lip colour is actually gorgeous, Jean!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the video :D These are all new ways to wear a flower pin for me! I especially loved the necklace and belt ideas. Also, you're much too hard on yourself - I think the video was perfect.
I don't know why you rejected this video, Jean. I love it! I haven't got into the flower pin trend yet but I am going to try. I love the way you wear it with the belt.
ReplyDeleteJean! Fabulous video! :) I love flower pins, but I actually don't own one. LOL. I need to find one soon. :)
ReplyDeleteI also have an LV Speedy and I've been looking for the perfect accessory to jazz it up. You're a genius! I'm definitely going to give this a try.
ReplyDeleteAnd don't be silly . . . your video was lovely. I didn't notice any of the mistakes you might have made because you were so confident and creative that it simply didn't matter. I hope you feel good about this video since it was totally awesome and informative.
This video is perfectly fine! I really liked the belt buckle idea, as I had never thought of it. The chain was interesting as well. The wine lip color is very pretty; I don't think there's anything wrong with it at all. Wine lip color might be a little harsh in person, but I think it looks presentable on film or in photos.
ReplyDeleteThe lip color looks good on you. Thanks for posting the video.
ReplyDeletei just clicked on your blog from wendy's lookbook and just wanted to say hi and i love your photos, they're gorgeous! i also love your nail polish in this video!!! and the flower pin looks soooo cute with your speedy. great idea!
ReplyDeleteThe video is great! I loved all the ideas. Glad you decided to post it.

ReplyDeleteThanks for the video.. everything looked well presented and beautifully filmed, your truly an inspiration. I design my own broaches and accessories. I'm happy to say that I will use your video to show my clients how to wear them in different ways.

What a great video! I love all these ideas and seriously never thought about doing any of them on my own. :o I was actually even looking for one of those pearl/flower necklaces to buy, buy didn't want to spend the few bucks, because I know I probably won't wear it that often.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much.
And I think the handbag flower idea is my fave!! even though I don't own a LV I can imagine this sprucing up any ol' boring bag.
great video!thanks for your tips'

I just started following your blog and I love your style! I already got some great ideas from you! And I'm not petite at all (5'7")! The video is brilliant. Loved all your ideas for the flower pin. I have to get myself one of those in a fun color to brighten up my wardrobe. Thanks again!
ReplyDeleteThese are truly great ideas! Cheap and easy too! My fav is the necklace idea. Now I wanna look for a long strand of pearls and a chiffon flower pin. :)
ReplyDeleteCould you do a post on rompers? I think they would be very cute to dress up or down for spring/summer. :)
ReplyDelete^^^^ooh I like Anonymous's request. What's your take on rompers, anyhow?
ReplyDeleteLove the video Jean - you are so articulate, photogenic, and creative - don't be so hard on yourself! Also, it'd be fun to see bloopers or some of the vids that you never used (kind of like hidden songs by Elvis, or something like that) ;)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely going to use some of your ideas!
This holds so many new ideas for me - the chained purse strand and 'bloomin' flower belt. Thank you for sharing.
ReplyDeleteThe wine shade and nailpolish suits you - way to push your comfort zone. You go girl!
These tips are so great! What kid of camera do you use to film videos?
ReplyDeleteHow do you make video?
ReplyDeletenoooo its an awesome video! I loved all the tips and your nailcolor is the most lovely!!!! also, i love this blog :) thank you tons!!!
ReplyDeleteand dont judge your own work as being non-creative. plz dont.
Thanks for sharing the video! I love the flower pin you created for your purse...so crafty!
ReplyDeleteI am trying to build up a collection just like you mentioned...bold necklaces, but good quality. Nordstrom has great items...and their online search is so nice. You can search sale items by percentage off. And if you buy shoes it is free shipping right now. :)
the video is great and very helpful. thanks!
ReplyDeleteWOW thanks for the great tips! Love it on belt and necklace! I hope to see you wearing the belt or necklace with the brooch on it! I just wanna see how you style it or incorporate it with your pretty clothes! Thanks for the effort of doing the video, so we could all benefit from it! Keep doing what you do best! :) Love it, love it!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the tips. I love your creative video. =} Keep it up, I want to see more videos from you.
ReplyDeleteAmazing! Now I have a fun project for this weekend. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative and stylish DIY tutorial! And your video quality is amazing! Neat and professional! Which camcorder are you using?
ReplyDeletehttp://findingwaveland.blogspot.com/
Wow! I love how you styled your Speedy! soo inspired... but first i need a Speedy lol.
ReplyDeleteNice article, thanks for the information.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the great video! You provided some really good tips - I especially love how you styled the brooch on your bag with the chains :)
ReplyDeleteThank you everyone for your supportive comments : ) Your notes always bring a smile to my face!
ReplyDelete@Anonymous @AubreyOhDang! I think rompers are cute but can so so easily go wrong on petite women. They were initially designed for babies to romp in and I think they look best on babies. They were popular last year but I think the trend of wearing rompers out on the street is dead (forgive me!). That being said, I own a few (Gap sleep rompers) and I love lounging in them at home.
hey jean~
ReplyDeletei would LOVE it if you could write in your blog about the atmosphere in work. and also tips on how to do well in interviews, how to build strong networking, working out/health/food for career woman. im a fresh graduate and will be working soon! so any tips would be great!!
Such fantastic ideas! Love your video, so crisp and clean. Great job!
ReplyDeleteYour video was great and gave me new ideas on how to wear my flower pins. Currently I have black, grey and houndstooth wool flowers from Talbots but would like to collect a more colors (what colors are you looking for? I'd like classic red, pink, yellow). I loved the way you wore your grey necklace with a grey blazer over black and I plan on copying it!
ReplyDeletelove your video and the quality is so sharp!! I am definitely gonna have to go get some flower pins! i love the one with the belt!
ReplyDeleteyou're very creative and have a good eye for proportion. I esp like your inventiveness of looping the flower pin on your belt buckle and how you added chains to the flower pin on your speedy. Another way to use flower pins is on your shoes! simple hair clips or even bobby pins can probably be glued onto the flower and then clipped onto the front of your shoes. you can have a new shoe using a flower or gem or ribbon or whatever the heck you want to use, everyday!
