Target Dresses Review and 20% off Sale

Target is currently offering 20% off & free ship if you spend $75+ (no code needed) on select clothing, shoes, and accessories. Target purchases are historically hit or miss for me, but the hits usually become true favorites.

Two months ago I was contemplating these online-exclusive Versie pumps in natural patent. Manageable platform (. 5") and heel (3.75"), feminine almond toe, same-colored heel (very important) - seems like an affordable shoe I'd love. Unfortunately, this color sold out within days. I added the link to my favorites and checked back every so often - lo and behold, they're now fully back in stock!

Mossimo Versie pumps, ordered in sz 5.5, $24 after discounts:
A reader Tammy wrote to me with another shoe suggestion: "A friend purchased the Mossimo Pearce Camel Patent pumps today at Target and I thought they looked amazingly like the Ann Taylor perfect pump line, including the colors, the rounded toe and the cushy padded insoles." For me personally, the toe seems more round on these than almond, and the 3.25" heel is lower than what I normally wear. These come in 6 colors and are $24 after discounts.

From my last Target purchase, I recommend this casual flirty ruffled dress that can be worn several ways. It's the Mossimo Off the Shoulder Dress (I'm wearing XS) that's just $14.40 after discounts.
Not too shapely when worn alone, but pretty cute when belted:
A week ago I was at Target and some surprisingly cute sundresses caught my eye. I rarely buy Target clothes in-store though (unless on super sale) because they have better sales and coupons online. In conjunction with the 20% off, I found a $5 off $50 coupon on Retailmenot and used it in conjunction with ebates for 3% cashback.

This was my favorite print amongst the bunch, and I promise it's prettier in person. It's a light cream color with ditsy flower print. Even the boyfriend acknowledged how cute it was on the hanger. On me, however, the drop-waist is too low and armholes too big. If you have a longer torso than me or if you're taller than 5 feet, then this may look very cute on. I was super bummed.
Print up-close:

2. Xhilaration Sweetheart Bodice Dress (also in brown and black), sizes XS - XXL
I love myself a sweetheart neckline (especially with bustier boning like this one!), but well-fitting ones are hard to find for smaller chests. This dress fit me fine everywhere except the bust cups - I couldn't fill them out. I'd recommend this in sz XS for fuller A cups and up (the back has elastic stretch paneling). PS - it has pockets : )

I was drawn to the happy color of this dress and the flattering chest-ruffles, but again the torso was a little long on me. In the first photo I've tucked in an inch of excess shoulder length into my bra straps. Again, if you're a littler taller or longer-torso'd - this would be so darling with espadrilles/wedges and a cognac belt.
Overall, I loved the print and color options of these dresses but they were not designed for someone with my height and proportions. If you're placing an order and need fillers to meet the $75, here is my previous Target review.

  4. mmm...i'm more interested in this belt you're wearing. do tell where it's from. I'll be disappointed if it came w/something.

I love the Xhilaration Sweetheart Bodice Dress, but a "smocked back" is such a pet-peeve of mine.

  10. I've been eying some dresses on Target too but was waiting for a coupon since those items weren't part of the "selected" for 20% off group. Where can I find the $5 off coupon on Retailmenot? Thanks Jean!

  12. Yay, I'm famous now! Thanks for including my suggestion about the Pearce pumps. I have done my good deed for the day. :-)

Elle, I clicked on the $5 off Kids Apparel link and it worked for the shoes & apparel.

  13. I loved the Xhilaration dresses when I saw the patterns! The red, cream and yellow were all so pretty. But they were more like shirts on me than an actual dress, ridiculously short. So disappointed. Great reviews BTW.

  14. I was just at Target where I hauled that Converse chambray shirt - I love it too, fits so perfectly on my petite upper body! I also saw some of the dresses that are in your post, gosh now I'm tempted to check those out too. =)

  15. Thanks for the reviews, Jean! I shop around in Target often. Nice to know that there are small dresses out right now. The skirts there are usually pretty tiny but most of the time everything else I try is too big in one way or another...but I still go there because it's cheaper lol

  17. It's a shame that red dress with the sweetheart neckline didn't work for you. It is still pretty cute. As for the pumps, I'm quite jealous. I tried on their in-store pumps and a 5.5 is just way too big for me. :-/

  18. Love the off the shoulder dress but not off the shoulder(s). On both shoulders look cute.

  20. i have the versie pumps in nude and i have problems walking in it because it's so high. may have to order the pearce pumps in camel patent when they come back in stock in 6.5 again! placed an order yesterday for the pearce in navy and red. it's so rare to see navy shoes around! shipping these shoes to singapore is going to cost a bomb but hopefully it's worth it = ) the white floral dress that u tried on was also o nmy WL but thankfully i read your helpful review about it being more suitable for girls with longer torsos. the red dress looks amazing on u.
