Petite Fashion Challenge # 2: Wear it now, wear it later

Petite Fashion Challenge #2, hosted by Kelly of AlterationsNeeded (my fave!):

"The challenge: Pick at least one item in your closet (not jeans, that's too easy!), and create two outfits, one for spring/summer, and one for fall/winter."

I sifted through my closet, and quickly decided on an H&M peach tulip skirt. I splurged on it ($40) in the Spring and never wore it again. It's slightly too short/whimsical for a business environment, and too dressy for my weekend lounging.

I took the easy way out and winter-ized this skirt with some black tights, while leaving the rest of the outfit (ruffled top, long cardigan) to mirror how I wore it in the Spring.

Outfit for Fall/Winter:
Skirt: H&M "Trend" sz 4, Blouse: Target sz jrs XS, Cardigan: LOFT sz XXSP (buy here)

Wow, makeup and hair looks a little better this time around too. I almost look cross-eyed in the Spring photo; probably not used to being in photographs yet. I would've liked to add some dimension to the Fall/Winter ensemble with a print top, but in the interest of time just threw on hasty black.

In winter I tend to "recycle" all my skirts by wearing them over opaque tights. No need to shave, yay. I think that black tights worn with black pumps has a similar elongating effect as bare legs with nude pumps. Black tights also make shorter skirts more work-appropriate because no real "leg" is being revealed. What do you guys think?

American Eagle Jeggings Review in sz 00

I purchased these AE jeggings a while back during a sale for $32, and was initially excited about how they fit and felt. After some thorough nitpicking, I decided to send them back and instead bought the Gap Legging Jeans in 00P, which I now love love love. Since these photos were already taken, I figured I'd share my thoughts anyways:

To keep or not to keep: H&M Lace Draped Dress

I found a dress at H&M last week that I'm excited to share with you guys (I even have an extra one up for grabs). I would love your opinions on whether or not it's a keeper for the price of $59.95. Sometimes I am deluded into thinking something looks and fits fabulously, but then you guys help me see the light (ie. gap ankle pants, gahh).

This dress is from H&M "Trend." Trend is their more expensive line, distinguishable by more fashion-forward styles and noticeably better workmanship. I adore their styles, but unfortunately, from my experience their trendy stuff is usually cut for taller women (long hemlines, super structured shoulders, over-sized, flowy styles). But this dress - not really trendy, plus I thought it fit great:

Brooch/pendant: Vintage "Peri" Cameo pin from eBay

Petite Friendly Blazers: Theory Gabe and Sparkle and Fade

Meet Gabe, my new blazer plucked from the clearance rack at Boomies. I wasn't sure about him at first, but the real bf Nick encouraged me to take him home.

Leggings: H&M sz 2
Blazer: Theory Gabe sz 00 (sleeves folded in)
Wedges: Tory Burch Sophia sz 5.5

Gabe is Theory's most classic blazer - they offer it season after season in their popular "tailor" fabric, in black and at least two other colors. Bloomies online has both the Gabe blazer and Max C. pants in sz 00, as well as the matching Betty sheath dress which is on my work wishlist.

ASOS Petites Review: Bow Combo Dress

The UK retailer ASOS has been (and still is!) offering free shipping to US customers, so I finally got curious and ordered this bow combo dress. Since I've heard inconsistent info about their sizing, I ordered both a petite 4 (says US 0 on the tag) and a petite 6 (says US 2).
Here is the UK Petite 4:
Dress: ASOS " "bow dress UK sz Petite 4 (buy it here)
Shoes: Aldo

The material was very stretchy so I got it on just fine (pull-over style, no zipper), but it was noticeably tight on me. I am not sure where one can wear this dress...for me it is too hooch for the workplace, yet not hooch enough for going out. Next up, the size 6...

Urban Outfitters Peplum Jacket Overload

I'm late to the party...the Kimchi Blue peplum jacket party, that is. You guys must be so sick of seeing this jacket on every petite blogger, but here is my un-enthusiastic contribution:
urban1
Jacket: Kimchi Blue Peplum Jacket in "Ivory" sz XS
Pants: Ann Taylor Twill Capris in "Cliffside" sz 00P

Let's play a game...can you identify your favorite petite bloggers? Who wore it best? Not me, thats fo' sure.

Petite Lookbook: Little Red Jacket

For those of you who have an H&M nearby, I can't recommend this sweatshirt-peacoat enough. It's affordable, well-constructed, warm, and runs small...what more can I ask for? It also comes in three colors, so if tomato red isn't for you, try hunting down one in black, or my favorite - heather gray.
