LOFT Coat and Stackable Sweaters Sale

I saw on twitter that LOFT is having a one day sale tomorrow, in-stores only. Three of their winter coats will be on sale for $75:

- Military Melton Coat (smallest is 00 Petite), regularly $188, so that's 60% off!
- Twill Officer Coat (smallest is 00 Regular), regularly $188.
- Wool Twill Swing Coat (smallest is XXS Petite), regularly $148, pictured below:

This coat comes in black or "light melange blue" which in real life is a light gray with specks of pastel colors - pretty! The material is heavy, and I liked the pocket placement and the nifty back detail. Although the swing style is not supposed to be snug, the shoulders and sleeve width were a tad roomy on me (for reference I am 5 ft, 94lbs). My only other nitpicky complaint was that the buttons were a little big for the XXSP. See this same coat and more on Vicky here.

Another sale that ends tomorrow both online and in-stores is their buy one get one 50% off sweater deal. After some researching & testing, this deal is stackable with EBATES25 for an extra 25% off, plus you can get 3% cashback through ebates (sign up here). The last time I posted about stackable coupons, they stopped working the next day! So act fast if you plan on picking up a few sweaters : ) Here's what I tried on:

I thought this was pricey, but it does have a lot of detailing plus it's heavy enough to be a jacket for West-coasters. An XXSP was not as snug on me as I had hoped for a sweater jacket, but I'm interested in seeing it on someone a size up! Edit: Check it out on Gigi here and MiniMaestra here.
Ah, this cardi caught my eye a while back - I just adore how it's styled on the model. Please try to excuse my gray thermal as it really takes away from the chicness of this cardigan. I love the dolman sleeves, I love the pockets, plus the material was super cozy to boot. I'm just not sure if I can pull off an oversized cocoon on my frame...what do you guys think? Does it look sloppy, or chic?

On an unrelated note, I started a facebook page a while back as another way to interact with readers. It's been really fun meeting some non-bloggers and actually putting faces to names (shoutouts to Michelle, Kandice, Kellie, and more). Show some love on my page if you "like" reading Extra Petite : )

  1. You always posted the best deal. I am thinking about getting the swing coat. The only thing that hold me back is the color. I am dying to have red wool coat. I wish it comes in more colors. Thanks for the stackable coupon codes. What a great deal! Are you getting anything this time?

  2. The wool jacket looks really nice on you and not nearly as boxy as I was afraid of. I like the detailing in the back as it makes it seem more fitted.

I also tried on the military sweater when it first came out but didn't like the ribbed material at the front half of the arms. I was hoping it would look more like a jacket instead of a sweater, so it ended up as a no buy for me. Looks great on your petite frame though!

Love the cocoon cardi on you! I think it looks great despite being petite and the material looks so soft and cozy.

    Great reviews!

  3. I am going to try those first two jackets tomorrow. I need some warm long jackets this season. Midwest gets pretty cold in the winter!

I will also go try on the military jacket since I am a little bigger than you! I will take pics too!

  4. Looking more at the details, I reallly want the officer jacket! I think the military sweater has too much detail but still, I will go take a pic with it on!

  6. I think my head just exploded! I love them all!

  7. The wool coat looks just like any other and I don't think I'd pay $148 for it. The material/quality must be amazing though.

Love the military sweater coat. It's pretty pricey though! The site says it's buy 1 get 1 50% off!! The cardigan looks soooo cute and cozy. I think the style looks great on you, but I'd pass on the colour.

P.S. Since we're on topic (LOL) I'm selling a brown cardigan in the style similar to the one you tried on here: http://shopdustprincess.blogspot.com/2010/11/brown-cardigan.html. Sorry for the mini ad, I could not resist. :P

  8. Thanks Jean for the shout out!! You are super sweet! I love reading your blogs and you are just such an inspiration to my wardrobe. :) What boots are you wearing? I like the ankle boot look, but can't seem to find any. Thanks for the loft update! I need to check their stores. Hey, do you have that loft 25% off card? I purchased it for $25 back in October during their breast cancer promotion. If you spend more than $100, you can save 25%! That is stackable with their other sales. Lmk if you want the code! (hopefully you can use it online, I haven't checked)

  9. Oh I love the cocoon cardigan on you! Very classy. I'm looking for a navy coat. The military melton coat is just right for evrything, now plus the price. :) Thanks for sharing the good news.
BTW, I didn't try the wool bell skirt. I only ordered double serge with sz 00. I like how it looks just afraid it'll be a little short on me.

  10. Everything looks fantastic on you! I am in love with that military coat! By the way, the jeans you are wearing fits you PERFECTLY! :)

  13. Kathryn - that's odd! I just tested it again and was on the last page and the additional 25% off was reflected. What does it tell you when you try to use it?

    ReplyDelete
  14. Oh! I really like the cocoon cardigan...not sloppy at all! I have been intersted in trying one on.

I was very surpirsed by the price of the military jacket, as well. I tried that one on here, but did not button it up...those things were so annoying! Now I wish I would have made the effort...tt looks cute on you buttoned!

  15. To be honest, I don't like the cocoon cardigan, especially on a small frame, although I think you're one of those people who looks chic in anything. The second photo proves you can make it work.

The other two coats are great!

  16. Ooo I have that cocoon sweater coming in the mail! I really liked it online and my local store didn't have it. It looks bigger than I expected on you though... I'm afraid it may be a bit much on our frame. Would probably be cozy for lounging around at home on a chilly night though.

  17. I LOVE cocoon cardigans with dolman sleeves, especially paired with tight skinny jeans/leggings underneath. They also look super cozy and everyone will wish they had a blanket-sweater!

  18. Super adorable!!! I love your style and the cocoon cardigan is my favorite!!!

  19. I think that the wool twill swing coat is really cute...and it is a very unique color with the pastel flecks, I might check out the sale today!

  21. Jean, thanks for linking me. I just linked back.:)
About the swing coat, it does look ton better on you. I bought the military sweater jacket, but haven't worn it yet. I love it!!! I will sure post pictures soon.
The Cocoon cardigan looks great on you. I'm not sure about the back. Did you see the back on the model? It sticks out. Ugly!

  22. You guys are tempting me to go to the store! I have an addiction for jackets! I think I'm going to pick up the military sweater jacket though - it's just so unique and cute! Unfortunately, San Diego is going through some sort of weird late summer, so I have to delay wearing my fall clothes!

Jean, you look good in ANYTHING and EVERYTHING. I love the jeans you're wearing and your ankle boots. I'm still trying to find a good pair of black booties.

  23. Oh I'm so curious what the long military coat looks like on a petite! I'm in desperate need of a long, fitted winter coat. Heh the Loft store is walking distance from my work but I'm so lazy and usually rely on seeing you petites do blog reviews :o

I like dolman sleeves and "cocoon" sweaters.. compared to the other petites out there I prefer loose, nonfitted clothing though. I certainly think it's chic if worn correctly and on the right frame :)

  24. Jean-- i love the military jacket and the cocoon sweater. they both look great as on you...but doesn't everything?! i esp like the military jacket, i love the ruffles and the girly look of it!

    ReplyDelete
  25. Awww, I love the cocoon sweater! It would look so cute wrapped in a belt or just open like you wore it. I don't think it is sloppy at all, the colder seasons is a perfect excuse to wear something oversized and snuggley.
I had to do a double take on the wool coat! You and Vicky look so much cuter and a lot better than it did in the model.

  26. I bought the petite military sweater after trying it on in the store on a whim. I couldn't get over how warm it was.....almost as warm as a coat it seemed to me without the bulk. I've worn it to work a couple of times and it definitely saves me from having to wear my coat at my desk which is nice!

  27. I just found your blog and I love it! I'm petite too at 4'11.5", although a bit chunkier (I don't have tiny Asian bones!) and finding cute non-kidsy stuff is so hard! I love your style. I don't have much in between torn up old jeans and tee shirts and traditional blouses and suits for work - I'll be going back through your posts for inspiration!

  28. i like the second coat on you. it's hard to find a nice sturdy coat that will last many years, but i think longer ones will be much warmer. however, trenches tend to stunt us petites. i look whole inches shorter these days wearing my detective suit, as i call it. anything to fix this without wearing heels?

    ReplyDelete
  29. The second coat makes you look more tough. lol In case you ever wanted to give off that vibe ;D

  30. I love the cocoon cardigan! It's chic and it looks great on you. Where'd you get your ankle booties? I loveeee, loveee them, I have such a hard time trying to look for some!

  31. Thank you guys for your comments and opinions!

PetiteLG - nothing for me this time...I definitely stocked up on enough of their sweaters during my last order, plus I just bought a pair of motocross pants in store : )

Kileen - oh, I think i know what you mean. There might be a little too much going on with it and the buttons and the ruffles and what not. No problem tho...I'm sure they will come out with more cute stuff each season at much lower than $150 in price!

Curvy petite - awaiting your post!

Callandra - oh I can't wait to see you modeling it. You always create the best outfits.
Angie - lol! Detective suit... I guess make sure to buy longer coats that hit above your knee, and if you wear flats then wear slender ones, or wedge boots if you have 'em.

Shy Violet - hi and welcome!

Ping - psh lol, I think everything looks better on you! I liked the military jacket too but I wish it was shrunken fit.

Sophia - I think I'd love dolman sleeves on you! The thinner one is I think flowy garments look more flattering.

Linh - I got the booties from Target last year...went down to about $7 for clearance! I never wore them cuz I thought they were too cheap looking but I broke them out this Fall and have been enjoying them! Too bad all the Target booties I tried from this season were not comfortable.

Michelle - that's so sweet of you to offer! I'm on a shopping hiatus from there tho after all the things I've gotten. And the booties are from Target, random clearance find last year : )

Vicky - oh, the back was terrible on the mdoel but I tried it on and took a photo and it looked semi normal. I really do wish it didn't have a slit, instead conformed to the back!

Grace - you're in SD? Did you see the forum thread on forum.alterationsneeded.com?

  32. petite asian girl, i love your blog and your lady-like style! i love how you can pull clothes together to give yourself an age appropriate outfits. i also love how you're conservative bc i know smaller girls can get away with tighter and shorter things. kudos to you!

btw, my bf can't stand forever21 either. he waits for me upstairs with a book (away from the crazy shoppers) or outside haha :P

  33. I passed on this deal because I was traveling all day yesterday but I love that second jacket on you...I am itching to go try it in stores but I know even if it is only mildly attractive on me I will want to get it. Definitely looks better on you than it did on the model.

  34. I bought the "Stadium-cloth peacoat with gold buttons" in a size 0. A little big, but it's a winter coat so I'm okay with it being a little larger.

    (http://www.jcrew.com/womens_category/outerwear/wool/PRDOVR~29667/29667.jsp) from J. Crew yesterday for a stackable 20% + 20% off deal.

Happy shopping fellow sisters in the petite struggle.

  36. @lebeauideal Thank you so much for your kind words! Ah, you must've read his guest post. We had to duck into F21 yesterday and the poor guy spent the entire time sitting outside. I'll keep a spare book or magazine in my purse for next time : )

@"Doctor" Lane I was in J.Crew as well and they told me about both deals, but I completely missed how they could've been stackable. Did you ask whether they would order petite sizing for you? I actually think they would have!

  37. The Swing Coat looks somewhat similar to the red H&M one you got - only this Loft one is longer. I like that Cocoon Cardi on you for casuals -- looks so cozy. Perfect with your jeggings and a scarf!

    ReplyDelete
  38. The wool peacoat is cute. Have you tried similar ones but at H&M size 2? I wonder how LOFT fits compared to H&M. I like the classic look since I can wear flats or sneakers and it might look ok,
but I want something more feminine with draped back, longer length and waist tie! I'm only 4'9.5" with very small frame so it's so hard to find any that are heavyweight wool.
