Petite Fashion Challenge - any takers?

The idea: an occasional (1x a month, max?) outfit challenge. All petite bloggers or interested readers are welcome to participate. Challenge topics may include outfits for specific occasions, budgets, or outfits involving specific garments or interesting themes. Ideas for topics are more than welcome.

How it works: The challenge topic can be announced beforehand, and participating posts can be scheduled subsequently by each blogger.

How to participate: Message me (or the host) before each posting date so that I can link to you. Within your post, please link back to the original challenge post.

I think this could be a fun idea for our online community, but I want to gauge the interest level first. I think it'd be neat to see each person's unique take on the same topic, plus we can collectively help readers with fashion questions or requests.

Fellow bloggers, is this something you'd be interested in doing? And readers, is this something you'd like to see?

PS - stay tuned...I hope to get two reviews and giveaways in this week!

  3. Hanna - yay! Glad you're interested. My style has gotten so mundane lately I need to challenge myself. It'd be so neat to see what others come up with too.

Ping - Lol! Your little cousin did a great job. Btw there probably won't be a "winner" : ) I'm thinking no need for competition, plus I don't have cool prizes to share.

  5. Well I think if you like spicy noodles too we should be fast friends for sure! haha I followed you too because this challenge sounds like a fun idea, and I rarely do outfit posts on my blog but would love to include more of them in the future :)

I use to work in government behind a desk so I know what it's like to work in a conservative atmosphere too (especially when you're one in 30 people below the age of 30 XD) Sometimes the OL-friendly wardrobe can be stifling lol

  6. As a reader, YES I'm interested :) I'm more the wallflower type so I don't see myself participating heh. Can't wait to see what the themes will be!

  9. I am definitely interested in ANY of your posts. Ohhh I am soo excited for your reviews and giveaways! I am soo excited I am going to review TLBC thanks to the pr email you gave me! THANK YOU A MILLION TIMES OVER! I am going to link you in my future YouTube video. :)

Also, I've been meaning to ask you, did you design your blog yourself or hire someone?

I'm looking to redesign my blog to make it a bit more professional, but don't know how to begin. The way I have it now I did myself, but it's a mess!

  10. Ahh, I've never actually commented on your blog before so sorry if this is out-of-the-blue random, but I would definitely be interested in doing this! (Forgot to add that bit in the first post!)

It seems like so much fun!... Plus it's always nice to see what ideas other people come up with and get some inspiration for new things to try!

  13. I'd be up for a challenge! I always feel challenged every day trying to find a decent outfit to take a picture of -- rules and guidelines might make it easier for me LOL!

  14. To echo the chorus: I loooove this idea and would love to participate as a reader!

  15. I would definitely love to see this! I'm not quite the fashionista you are so I don't think I would be able to participate myself but I still think it's a fantastic idea! =)

  16. Love it! I don't think I'd ever win, but I know I'd learn a lot from you and all of your readers!

  17. I would love to participate! I was just thinking the petite community needed to do something, and that I need to get involved with more fashion bloggers that are my size!

  19. Well as a petite french lady seeking for her Graal on US petite blog,I'll more than interested to participate. The only problem is that I do not currently own an APN but this can be easily solved thanks to friends.

  20. I'm always been a fan of little black dresses and I have a tiny (but growing) collection myself. Maybe a "little black dress" challenge one day? LOL :D

  21. That is a really good idea!

I do not have a blog, but I would love to participate!

And btw...hello! I just started reading (and now officially "following") your blog (and AN, and Petite XXS) this summer. Thanks for all the great ideas so far! :)

  22. I'm so glad that many of you are interested! I was thinking...even for those of you who aren't bloggers (RL, Michelle, etc), you guys should definitely consider just setting up a blogger account even if it is just to post an outfit or two once in a blue moon : ) It's super easy and if I can do it, anyone can...

Michelle - hi! I'm so glad that you found our online community.

Jessy - LBD is always a good one. Callandra (you may remember her from the work outfit contest) suggested a "wear it two ways" contest theme.

Marigami - Hi there - remember you from the AlteratiosnNeeded forum : ) Do you have access to blogger.com over there in France? If so, you should open an account via google blogger!

  23. I'm already excited to see everyone's outfits! Me, not so great at putting outfits together, but I'll give it a try! :)

  24. Sounds fun to me. I don't know if I'd participate, but I'd love to see all of the outfits!

  25. Sounds like a fun idea. I have recently "discovered" the fun of mixing/matching outfits and getting in front of the camera. It was quite awkward to begin with but after a while..it becomes a fun thing to do. Those who haven't done so, give it a shot - you will enjoy it. I love seeing fresh faces.

    ReplyDelete
  26. I would love to do this! It sounds so fun. How would I messege you though?

  27. what a great idea! count me in! =)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Yeees!~ Count me in as well :D How fun!!!!!

  29. Nelah - I know, right? It's awkward and intimidating at first but get's to be really fun. I get excited too whenever I see new faces and petite bloggers surface.

Anonymous@ 10:49 - I'll ask participants to leave a comment on the post, and you can send me your photo, but I'm really trying to encourage non-bloggers to open up a blogger account even if it is just to post once every few months! The account is free (and trust me) very easy to open and use.

    ReplyDelete
  30. Ahem!!
Sorry to bother you but how can I get a blogger account? Sorry for my ignorance and non "geekery" state.

  31. Here's an idea that hopefully someone can elaborate on... How about something along the lines of a "Do It Over" challenge where you post a before photo in which you made a petite fashion faux pas like wearing clothing clearing not petite or kiddie clothing to something like a formal. And then posting an "after" photo showing the outfit you wish you could have worn knowing all the petite fashion tips.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'd like to participate in this challenge as well. What a neat idea. It'd actually force me to make good on my promise to actually photograph myself in petite fashions.

I don't exactly understand all the rules just yet, but I'll wait for more clarification.

  33. R.L. - I really love that idea! I'm going to save it for a future challenge, because that one takes more effort (would have to dig through our photo archives...possibly scan in old non-digital pics, Lol!) and then make an outfit. I'm going to make the first one easy, but thanks so much for this idea. I already know which outfit I'm gonna do for your challenge. Btw, what is your first name? I feel odd calling you just by "RL" : )

Marigami - if you go to www.blogger.com, and click the big orange button that says "Create a Blog." Fill out the entire form, then choose a blog name, and create! Email me at petiteasiangirl at gmail.com if you need help : )

Ms.Shopportunity - yay! Glad you're onboard. We haven't seen many outfit posts from you yet.

  34. Hey - I just found your blog today but I love it! What an awesome idea, to have a blog specifically about petite fashion.

Anyway, I'd love to participate in this!

  35. I just started a blog a last week and am excited for the next petite fashion challenge! Just a question though, Do you have to have yourself wearing the outfit like people have been doing for the challenges or can you just do a layout of different pieces?
