Jacket: Theory Caprine in sz 00
Ruffled tank: Theory Raquella sz P
Belt: Banana Republic XS
Jeans: H&M Kids sz 11/12 years
Wedges: BCBG 5.5
I <3 Theory. Their jackets seem to be getting more and more "shrunken" fit, and I'm not complaining! I exercised much self control at the Theory outlet this time...ended up with 2 items for under $95!
I'm also in love with this supersoft tank w/ 100% silk trim. For once, it actually fits me like it does on the model! I didn't realize it retailed for so much. It was just $19 at the outlet!
Now, compare the fit of the above tank with this button-up in the same size (Theory sz P):
Atrocious! This is why I detest trying on button-ups.
I'm filing this outfit under both work and casual because I'll probably wear this to work on a Friday. If you think this outfit looks familiar, it's probably because you've seen a similar version worn by my West coast wardrobe twin, AlterationsNeeded. She has this same jacket in black linen. Is it my imagination, or does hers look longer?
What street?

Ahaha, I love the outfit and the last photo is awesome :)
ReplyDeletehaha cute street sign, very fitting too! pun intended :) i love the fit of that beautiful theory jacket. i just try not to wear things too often that i'm scared to wash, so i have no idea! usually all my whites are grey and nasty in a few weaks x_x maybe try some kind of laundry bleach made to brighten whites?
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with yellowing whites - eventually I donate them or I convince myself they are now ivory. I read somewhere once upon a time that dry cleaning chemicals can cause yellowing, so maybe try to not clean as often? And I think I read to scotch guard whites, but I've never done that so you might want to Google first. For washables, I stick with OxyClean in hot wash, with Clorox bleach pen on stains.
ReplyDeleteOoh those kids jeans look great! And I like your necklace! Glad to hear you found stuff at the outlets.. and clothes that fit to boot!
ReplyDeleteThe only white items I own are tanks... and none of them have yellowed. Perhaps b/c of the makeup? They're not 100% cotton.. maybe a bit of spandex or some other synthetic keeps it from yellowing hahaha..
Lol @ the button up snapshot, that's exactly how most collared shirts look on me also. Hence, why I haven't worn a button up in over a year.
ReplyDeleteThe white jacket is a perfect demonstration of why I love reading fashion blogs. Seeing a garment in action is so different from seeing it on the rack. The picture you posted yesterday of the jacket (actually it may have been on another petite blog) didn't appeal to me at all, but it's super cute on you, and I'm liking it a lot more!
I'm curious about keep whites white too so I'll be checking back to see if there are any useful tips posted ;)
ReplyDeleteI have the same problem with button ups! I tried a Gap and a Club Monaco XS button up and ended up swimming in them :(
i love the fitted jacket with the fitted jeans. the blouse was such a great deal!
ReplyDeleteyou love theory! i was at bloomies this weekend and saw a gray suit jacket and it was in size 00P. i think it was around $375 and with 40% discount. i thought maybe jean or reallypetite might like it. hahah!
i have bad luck with dry cleaning white stuff. one time the dry cleaners stained my white BR pants with something pinky! i confronted them about it and they promised to take it out. they ended up bleaching the crap out of my pants and shrinking it. ahhh.
You are so cute! Short street :p
ReplyDeleteThis is a great outfit. The crisp white is so refreshing and thoroughly appealing. I have no solutions to keep clothes the same whiteness as it was brand new except to put them in garment bags with holes on the bottom for ventilation.
You are swimming in those button ups. I'm no petite gal and button ups never fit right on me either :/ The arms are usually too long and look unflattering.
The belt... did your jacket have a place to fit the belt and hide the sides?? Wow, that's so cool. I've never seen a jacket like that! The tank is gorgeous. $105 is a crazy price for it though! :p $19 is almost a steal for something so delicate :D
Love the outfit with the brown top. : ) Very flattering! That's a suitable street sign ;) haha How old are you?! I don't think I've read your age anywhere..
ReplyDeleteWow someone would pay $105 for a tank? You got it for such a great deal! I love the belt detail on the jacket, and how you can substitute your own belt to coordinate with the outfit. I think it looks longer on AN because she's more short-waisted?
ReplyDeleteHmmm...your jacket does look longer, but I think PetiteXXS might be right about it being because I have a shorter waist than you do. This is why it's so cool to see the same thing modeled on different body types.
ReplyDeleteI like the white a lot! Especially with the black belt.
About yellowing whites...my little white Theory jacket had yellow spots all over it! Stupid oxidation! I took it to a "high end" cleaners and they did a "wet clean" on it. Yellow spots came right out! One danger of a wet clean is it can potentially change the texture of some fabrics...but if the choice is to change the fabric texture, or get rid of the garment because it's yellowed...I'd take the texture change any day! My little jacket came out looking like new! Expensive for dry cleaning, but I'll do it every so often as it gets dirty again.
Short street! :} What a coincidence!
ReplyDeleteFor storing whites I suggest keeping them in zippered garment bags. And I second the Clorox bleach pen suggestion!
Love your outfit, it's cute how the belt peeps out from the jacket! I love your posts, they give me inspiration for chic outfits and introduce me to petite-friendly briends :) Sadly I'm an unemployed graduate that needs to budget on shopping until I get a job =(
ReplyDeleteLove your white jacket. Very nicely put together!
ReplyDeleteI just love the white jacket! Love the outfit -you look so clean cut and very well dressed. =)
ReplyDeletesuch a classy look! i love ur white jacket:) also loving the last pic...short st! LOL!:)

Love..love...love your outfit! I went to Theory last weekend too but they ran out of 00 :( I didn't end up getting anything
ReplyDeleteI actually think that top looks much better on you than on the model online! nice oufit :)
ReplyDeleteBravo, Jean! This white jacket looks awesome on you! (but you knew that :)) I don't have any patience in terms of taking care of my clothes, so I don't have many whites. Is this jacket dry clean only? If so, I guess you just have to trust the cleaners to make them look good. LOL on the last picture. That's just brilliant. :D
ReplyDeleteYou look very lovely and chic in that jacket. You are always well dressed and classy.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE and own a few white jackets but have the same yellow issue. They unfortunately ended up in the donation box yet it does not stop me from buying more.
Ohhhh you look fantastic! You would make an ideal model! :) You wear skinny jeans soo well--soo many short girls have big thighs they can't pull it off, but you are just perfection--you can wear anything and everything! I love the black belt with your white jacket! Ohh!
ReplyDeleteLove the outfit! I've been following your blog for some time and have bought a bunch of items you have recommended (Gap romper!). It's nice to see how clothes fit on someone with a similar body type. I love, love your shoes..where did you buy them? I've been looking for the right wedge sandal.
ReplyDeletethe jacket fits you really well! I like your outfits a lot, they're so wearable on everyday basis and so form fitting :D
ReplyDeleteLovely outfit! They always say petites shouldn't do contrasting colours on the top and bottom but it works for you. I guess rules are made to be broken. :)
ReplyDeleteFor washables, I swear by OxyClean. I fill a bucket with the hotest water the garment can withstand, add a generous amount of OxyClean and soak the garment overnight. My daughter gets yellow deoderant/sweat stains on her tees and on her white work shirts and it comes right out.
Ha! Just noticed the street sign. Sweet! :)
ReplyDeleteGreat pictures and perfect fit! Funny, it does look shorter on you than on the alterations website.
ReplyDeletethat jacket is perfect! love it

Love your jacket! Glad you found such great items at Theory. If I can, I bleach my whites or I store them separately from the rest of my clothes so they don't really change color. Though, my silk shirt is starting to yellow and it's just it's natural process. Though, keeping it out of the light for extended periods of time helps too! =)
ReplyDeleteYou look so good in simple black and white! I love the jacket (and the last pic lol)!
ReplyDeleteThanks for your comment about the french twist maker! It took me a while to figure it out. LOL!I really wanted to buy the bun pin, but they were all out at Target. If you try it please let me know how you like it! I hope you're having a GREAT day!
ReplyDeleteI am in love with your white jacket! LOVE!!
ReplyDeleteI ADORE this outfit, J!!!! I need to rock an outfit like yours asap! I have a white blazer that is slightly yellowed and missing a button...I dunno how to store it properly, I think I'll try dry cleaning it.
ReplyDeleteI need to see if there's a Theory outlet around here, the sell a lot of Theory @ Nordstrom Rack, but it's still expensive and never in Petite, just normal sizes =/
ReplyDeletethey*
ReplyDeleteLove this white color Jacket!
ReplyDeleteI think a well fitted blazer does wonders for us petite ladies. I own 3 blazers :D xx
ReplyDeleteAw, thanks guys! I also appreciate the whites tips, unfortunately this is dry clean only. Ashley I'll look into that interesting scotch guard idea. And there are conflicting suggestions about keeping whites zipped up, or letting it breathe!
ReplyDeleteCamille - nice to hear from you! ooh, I hope you liked the sleep romper! I'm wearing it as I type : ) As for the BCBG wedges, sadly they are from an outlet many years ago. I'll post if I see similar ones.
Jessy - a lady never reveals her age...but I'm 23, lol.
J-Ezzy - actually theory doesn't make petites. It's a little confusing because their XS is called "Petite." All the jackets I own from there is just regular sizing.
Ping - lol, I do love theory, but I don't love their prices. Even at 40% off it is still too much!
runway pink is nice if you want a natural baby pink :) my everyday lipstick (for whenever i bother wearing it) is rosy tan for a my-lips-but-better look. i was pleasantly surprised by both :)
ReplyDeletefind a 50% coupon next time and you can get both for $2.50 each yay!
Love the crispness of the white jacket with the skinnies!
ReplyDeleteI sometimes wish that I worked somewhere I could dress up more for work. I'm in the construction industry and usually, it's jeans and a top that I wouldn't mind going out on a work site with. Le sigh.
lol on the street! cute outfit! i wish we can wear jeans to work
ReplyDeletelove the street sign, how very fitting. I love the simple black and white outfit, very work-appropriate but also great because you can incorporate the separates into creating other outfits as well. not sure how to keep whites white, maybe a garment bag of some sort? it makes you wonder what it is that makes our white clothes turn all yellow and yucky. i love that silk tank as well! you gotta love it when an item fits you as well as it does on the mannequin.
ReplyDeleteI am in love with that jacket and those wedges! (: so cute! and you look gorgeous in it!! great blog btw!
ReplyDeleteLOL @ posing with the Short St. street sign :P You're so funny :)
ReplyDeleteAnd yes to the crisp white blazer! I love how you added the belt <3

Distilled white vinegar added to your final rinse should help...
