Final Look vs. Eye makeup-less Mugshot
That right photo looks like a sad, lost little boy. It belongs on the side of a milk carton : )A few weeks ago I won the Covergirl mascara giveaway hosted by Liana of BeautyBag411. She was so kind to send me a few extra goodies as well! I was really excited to see that she included an eyeshadow brush, so that I could finally stop using the horrid free foam shadow applicator.
Annnd get ready to see why I'm not a makeup & beauty blogger.
Naked eyes with sparse lashes curled.
After a few coats of Covergirl Lashblast Fusion
Finished with: NYC Liquid Eyeliner ($2) and a smudge of gray eyeshadow winging the outer corners.
Pros: achieved greater lengths easily. The wand is very unique and felt like a little comb, separating each lash as it goes.
Cons: a little clumpy compared to my usual mascara, and runs easily. I was wearing this mascara the other day and was a little horrified to notice this:
Eeeks! And nobody was kind enough to tell me : (
Would I use this again? Maybe on a day when I'm sure my eyes won't be watering. And maybe there is a waterproof version? Either way, thanks again Liana for letting me try this!
End look again - keeping "natural" for work:
Readers - what is your favorite mascara? My HG is Lancome Defincils (I use regular, not waterproof, and it has never smudged or ran on me) but I'm currently also loving Fiberwig "Paint-on lashes."

I have missed so many of your posts, which makes me sad! You are on my blog roll; I'm trying to catch up on all my favorite ladies now. :)
ReplyDeleteYou look amazing with and without make-up! WTH? I HATE you! ;) I'm wearing no make-up, broken glasses, and a weird bun on my head.
Super pretty pictures, girlie!
xoxo
Volum' Express Turbo Boost Washable Mascara. I been using others as well, but I always seem to run back to this one. Love it!
ReplyDeleteYou're so pretty and your hair is gorgeous too! Love your "natural work" look.
ReplyDeleteMy mascara is by Real Purity. It only has six ingredients, seriously. It is the only one I can use without having red, swollen eyes!:( I love it though- it doesn't smudge.

Super pretty, you don't even need makeup! xx
ReplyDeleteYou look so beautiful with and without the mascara. The work look is really nice and fitting :) I have the lash blast mascara as well but mine comes in an orange tube. I remember the wand being kind of hard but it is unique. The lash comb is just like a hairbrush :p
ReplyDeleteMy favorite mascara is probably the Maybelline Falsies. It's in a purple packaging and the applicator is curved. Applying it on my short and non existent lashes is a pretty defining moment as most mascaras are pretty bleak to me. I like the Lancome definicils too :) I have a sample size of that one and it gives just enough color to enhance the depth of your eyes.
I've never used the Figerwig paint on lashes before, but it sounds cool! I've had the regular Figerwig but I stopped purchasing it because it's so expensive :p
You're so pretty! I love how you did the winging on your eyes... very flattering but not too flashy for work. That final look would make a nice headshot if you ever wanted to dabble in acting or modeling! :)
ReplyDeleteI shy away from eye makeup (mascara included) on a daily basis because I don't like how hard I have to rub my eyes to remove them... I'm freaked out enough already about my fine lines and dark circles to add all that extra aggravation!
You look so pretty! Your look is so fresh and natural. I also love your outfits and the way you put things together. Just started following. I'm petite too but rarely go out of the way to get correct, "petite fitting" clothes.
ReplyDeleteYou're pretty even without makeup - how dare you!! ;) I love the regular LashBlast (the orange tube) and they do make a waterproof version of that for sure. My HG mascara though is definitely the Mary Kay ultimate b/c when I wear it I always get asked if I'm wearing fakes so it must be good.
ReplyDeleteYou are just one of those lucky girls that looks beautiful with or without makeup!!! My favorite mascara is the Lancome Defincils- I swear its the only mascara that works on my straight lashes!!! I love your natural work look- so pretty!!!! :)
ReplyDeleteYou don't need makeup! I like lash blast minus the fact that it weighed down my curls :( I love your previous post about the pleats!
ReplyDelete<3 Diana
You look realllly pretty in that last picture!
ReplyDeleteWow, did you do anything else besides mascara and liner? What kind of foundation do you use (if you do)? There is such a difference between the two pictures.. Haha now I'm thinking I should probably wear makeup more often.
for a girl who thinks she can't do makeup, you're a pro at looking naturally beautiful. nonsense! this mascara looks great on you and your eyes look so happy when you smile :)
ReplyDeleteI entered that giveaway lol. I think the mascara looks great on you.
ReplyDeleteI am quite honestly on a no make up kick right now, and while I realize it makes me look I'm 14 and not the most attractive, my prep time in the morning has shortened considerably and my skin has improved in tone from not being subjected to face paint each day.
ReplyDeleteI love Maybelline Waterproof Great Lash mascara in Black/Brown. My eyelashes are naturally red-brown and I'm so pale that I use brown liquid eye liner and the blended color mascara, which both end up looking black without looking harsh.
You look amazing and natural. You have to teach me how to cause I fee like I look dead with makeup but without colors on my cheeks and then i feel I sometimes over do.
ReplyDeleteGirl you are so naturally GORGEOUS! And we have similar lashes it seems, I can't seem to find one that holds up throughout the day but waterproof ones are really a lot better (and especially since I wear contacts most days as well).
ReplyDeletegorgeous FOTD! for a good waterproof mascara, i swear by the maquillage mascara's.

I started using the Neutrogena mascara regular recently(though there is a waterproof version) both are with olive oil something in it. I love the mascara because it gives me super long lashes instantaneously, the only concern I have faced is that I wear glasses and over the last week I have noticed that my eyelashes have grown so much that they curl up against my glasses. Most people I have mentioned this to , have been ecstatic (I was too for a bit =D)but I have had to get my eyes retested because I feared a change in my prescription (i have had new glasses since then =( n only apply this mascara when I use contacts) since my eyelashes now push my glasses further away from my eyes (talk about weird strength). So I am not sure if the mascara is really a plus or a minus!!! I have used it everyday for the past 3 weeks. Your thoughts...?!?!
ReplyDeleteChica, you look beautiful sans makeup!!!
ReplyDeleteI do not have a mascara that I love, seriously, everything gives me raccoon eyes and nothing curls or holds a curl on my lashes =/ so I'm no help, the day I find the right mascara, I'll be dag on sure to do a post on it!!
I want that Neutrogena mascara referenced above by anonymous...but what I need is curl!!!
btw - that's my favorite standard e/s brush!! Congrats on winning :)
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! My faves are also Fiberwig, Dior Show, Loreal Voluminous, one from MAC but I can't remember which one (It's waterproof). I jsut tried a new Loreal Telescopic, and it's great for the corners and lower lashes!

Love your blog! I have a bit of a request. I'm a 23 year old 5ft 90lb Asian girl who often gets mistaken for a 15 year old (or an 18 year old on a good day). Can you offer any fashion advice on how to look more your age? Specifically when it comes to casual clothes. I'm in grad school in the sciences and don't have the benefit of wearing nice professional clothes.
ReplyDeletei have tried every mascara under the sun! but, i'm a budget so over the past few years i've kept it cheap.
ReplyDeletei didn't care for the lash blast. i like my lashes to be thick but i was allergic to the lash blast! it would run down my eyes as well creating that raccoon look! i've since switched to lash stiletto and i LOVE it. it makes your lashes SUPER long!
For curlier lashes without using a curler I believe Avon (at the cheaper end $8) and YSL (at the higher end) make mascaras that have waxes and wands that set your lashes while curling them. I have read great reviews about the curl lasting all day with the YSL one, dunno abt the Avon...
ReplyDeleteYou look so stunning even with minimal make-up<3<3<3<3<3<3
ReplyDeleteYour lashes are so long too!
Very pretty start and ending look(s)^___^
XOXO

Thank you everyone for the great mascara suggestions. So many to try! And goodness...such kind comments...but I think we can all agree that makeup does not hurt. I can't imagine going to work bare-faced anymore.
ReplyDelete@PetiteXXS - I used to feel that way too, but I invested in lancome's makeup remover. One gentle swipe is all it takes to get rid of my stubborn eye makeup.
^ Anonymous - what a great idea! Although I personally have NOT mastered the skill of not looking 16. I will definitely do a post on that for kicks and hopefully solicit some better suggestions from readers : )
Pretty eyes! I always use non-waterproof mascara b/c I feel like I always lose lashes when taking off waterproof mascara. Downside is non-waterproof mascara never holds my curl (especially in humid areas where I live). I use Lash Blast and then Loreal Voluminous on top. I like your makeup reviews :)
ReplyDeleteYou are gorgeous, I wish I could get away with that little makeup :)
ReplyDeleteOh my god, you totally cracked me up with the milk carton comment <3 I love the final look. So simple yet polished!
ReplyDeleteMy HG mascara is Too Faced Lash Injection in PINPOINT. It's a tubing mascara, and it never smudges - my number 1 problem with mascaras. At $28CAD + tax though, I'm not willing to shell out the cash if I'm going to have to toss it in 3 months.
NYX Doll Eyes in Volume isn't bad - I use it as a primer sometimes to really add length. If I use it alone though, the fibers bother my eyes, so I need to use another mascara over it. The orange Lash Blast isn't bad.
The last photo looks like a modeling or actress headshot! I LOVE!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try this mascara! I use the lashblast, so I'm curious how this one is.
ReplyDeleteu look so gorgeous with minimal makeup. natural beauty~
ReplyDeleteSuper gorgeous, LOVE your cheekbones!!! :) I think the mascara gives your lashes lots of definition and is overall very pretty and natural (though you are naturally all those things too!)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the review - and those GUMMY bears are the BEST btw! ;)
Omg, you look really good for just eyeliner and mascara! I wish I looked as pretty wearing a natural look. :)
ReplyDeleteI liked Diorshow alot but I've been using Dior Iconic, which I think I'd buy again. It does wonders for thickening and lengthening my lashes at the same time.
Thanks for the comments on the sandals!
ReplyDeleteI was playing with the jump for hours last night - HTML is definitely not my first, second, or third language :)
you are so funny about the milk carton! you look so pretty in these pictures! My HG mascara is Tarte's lights, camera lashes. YSL and diorshow both end up below my eyes on me!

your makeup looks SO pretty! :)
ReplyDeleteahhhhhh you're so beautiful! Your eyes look pretty with or without makeup.. I don't see a little boy in sight at all haha!
ReplyDeletemy favorite mascara is original lashblast but I might give the lancome a try :) thanks for the fusion review!
<3jimin
lovely! my favorite is a japanese fiber mascara called majolica majorca :)
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that I haven't used mascara in years, but using fake lashes isn't the best but after getting lash extensions, my lashes aren't what they used to be. Sadly they're shorter and stubbier than ever :( so I'm looking into those lash growing formulas to see if that helps otherwise there's no point in wearing mascara at all. You have such an amazing complexion and even just a little bit of mascara and eye liner really brings out your natural beauty (yes, so jealous right now haha), you have great genes that's for sure! thanks for the review though, I def don't like mascara that clumps or runs.
ReplyDeleteyour so pretty^^~~ your pretty without makeup on too!! ha~ just your not smiling:P my fave is fiberwig and then majolica majorca.. i think ill give the lancome one a try~ i dont own a single lancome makeup item!xx
