Today's post is my everyday casual "uniform." Except maybe swap out the skinny jeans for "jeggings," but my bf detests those and rarely lets me out of the house in them. This oatmeal-colored wrap is my only piece from Vince - the maker of all things comfy and cashmere-y. Vince clothing in general is generously sized and not petite-friendly, but I've found that their thicker knit sweaters (with fold-able sleeve cuffs, like this one) in size XS fit okay for an "oversized" casual look.
Tank: F21 basic cami in S (sold here for $2.50)
Cardigan: Vince Cashmere Wrap in womens XS
Jeans: H&M Kids Skinny Jeans in sz 11/12
Pumps: Mossimo Nude pumps from Target in sz 5.5 (sold here)
Necklace: J.Crew Crystal Symphony necklace
Shop this look in petite-friendly sizes:
The Neutral-Colored Wrap Sweater
1. Old Navy Short Sleeve Belted Wrap Cardigan in "Earthly" sz XS
2. Ann Taylor LOFT Textured Wrap Cardigan in XXS
3. Armani Exchange Plaited Wrap Cardigan in XS. The cropped style looks extra petite-friendly!
The Dark Skinny Jean
1. PacSun Dark Skinny Jeans in 00 - a bargain at only $14.99. These run quite small...I needed a 0!
2. J.Brand 10" Skinny Jeans in 24. They are modeled in a post by AlterationsNeeded and look tiny.
3. True Religion Petite Stella Skinny Jeans in 24. The Stella or the Julie (with flap pockets) are my favorite skinny jeans ever. I own the kids Stella in a girls 12 but the snap button is a b**tch because it always comes unsnapped in public. A 31 inch "petite" inseam is still long, but I suppose these would look great cuffed.
The Nude Colored Almond-Toe Pump
1. Nine West Rocha Pumps in Tan - very popular based on reviews. Also saw them on eBay in sz 5!
3. Aldo Mid-Heel Suede Pump in Taupe - on major sale and perfect for lots of walking.
Skinny jeans aren't for everybody, but I love them for lengthening my short legs. Nude pumps also works wonders when worn with bare legs!

Not yet awake...

Too tiny to read ... but my Life is Good mug says "Do what you like, like what you do ®." How do you trademark a sentence like that?
Although I'm usually a big proponent of belts to "cinch" the waist, I prefer this cardigan without. The belt makes it look too bathrobe-like.
A note on the Mossimo pumps ... these are some of the cheapest-looking shoes I've ever bought. I buy stuff from Target a lot, so I expected better! They remind me of shoes I would buy in high school from places like Wet Seal or Charlotte Russe, which I guess seems about right because those places have a similar price point. The man-made leather on these look very synthetic, and the fit in the toe-bed is a tiny bit wide - so am I crazy for still liking them and keeping them? They were $25 after a retailmenot coupon ... oh well. They'll get lots of wear this Spring and Summer and I won't feel bad for beating them up.
PS - I just discovered Google reader. I'm really behind the times, lol. Of course it makes sense to browse new posts of all the blogs I'm following in one pane. I love you, Google. More reason to follow!

im loveing the nude heels :) and your oh-so-sophisticated outfit whats CFA! but good luck with it:)!
ReplyDeleteomg, your legs look so long in that pic. I don't believe you at all when you say you have the short legs proportion!
ReplyDeleteI'm with Jen. And the damn jeans don't even touch the floor (my trick, obviously I don't wear skinnies).
ReplyDeleteps Enjoy Google Reader. It's definitely your friend!
LOVE this look! the necklace is adorable, and i am now dying for that cardi! why won't your bf let you wear "jeggings"? i'm sure they look great on you.
ReplyDeletei just started using google reader too, and i am so with you! i refresh it like 10x a day :) (modest estimate lol)
Aww haha you really are teenytiny! The oatmeal cashmere wrap is lovely :) And wear your jeggings! haha boo to the bf :P
ReplyDeletei love that wrap! it looks super comfy which is great for me who prefers tshirt and jeans for comfort! hehe! I agree with you on the skinny jeans too.. i'm a little asian girl standing at 5'1... i need these kinds of illusions! ;P
ReplyDeleteWow, you look so nice with this outfit! I'm diggin' the necklace! Umm....tell me why your legs look soo LONG! Those jeans are amazing, lol. I really like your blog. Even though I'm not really considered "petite". I still have a slender build, so it's nice to see what advice you have for ppl like me. :)
ReplyDeletei love the vintage wrap. girl, you are soo natural and pretty !

Beautiful!! I am in LOVE with those pumps!
ReplyDeleteI agree, you look so tall!! I guess I better start looking for some skinnies, although my runner's thighs make it hard to find a pair. Cute wrap too!
ReplyDeleteLove your outfit!
ReplyDeleteAlso, would like to add "William Rast Jerry Ultra skinny" on your list :-). Although they are not for petite (33-34" inseam), they have size 22! (I think not many brands provide this size).
I love casual but put together outfits like this. I always reach for my skinnies for my "casual" days. You look great in that color too.
ReplyDeleteI need a pair of nude pumps. My feet don't do too well with man-made leather, they immediately reject them. LOL so I will be investing in a pair but must find the right pair to invest in.
The whole ensemble is fabulous!!!! I'm going to have to try this!
ReplyDeletethanks for pointing out google reader!
ReplyDeletei love this look on you and i love the photo!
ReplyDeleteCute outfit! You look comfy and sophisticated, which is a hard thing to pull off haha
ReplyDeleteAww, thanks guys! NJ- I can't believe they make 22! A 23 is too small for me in most brands, so I can't imagine who dons the size 22 William Rasts...
ReplyDeleteOn the topic of leg-elongating skinny jeans, a.fashion.deliberation (link on the right side of my blog) is modeling some J.Brand 10 inch skinnies as well in her last post, and her legs look unbelievably long. I've been meaning to try on a pair of those, or even their J.Brand for kids jeans (also sold at J.Crew)!
I love the simple look and the nude heels. :)
ReplyDeletelove the cardigan! You look great!
ReplyDeletegreat pictures as always. you look so chic in this outfit. i LOVE the wrap sweater :)
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for this blog! I rarely jump on good internet deals b/c I am worried about fit, tired of altering everything, since my tailor is a hassle to get to after work (but he is good and work is performed on site). And I might buy this sweater - I was afraid of looking dumpy.
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to say that you always look great and put together! Have you ever looked into petite modeling? It's nice to see how petite clothes actually look on a petite person, since catalogues always seem to use people of average or greater height, which means the clothes will never look the same way on us. Thank you for your wonderful info and beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeletei love ur casual outfit! u always look so classy:) i'm with ya, vince has some fab sweaters. i don't blame u for loving the heels. they're great! plus they're quite a bargain. i'm on the hunt for similar nude pumps. hmm seems like i'm on the hunt for a lot of things lately lol:) that's so funny, i just discovered google reader just a few weeks ago, too! lol! i can't believe how much easier it is to follow other blogs now haha! gluck with the CFAs! have a great weekend!
ReplyDeletep.s. thank u for ur sweet comment about the hello kitty pops. if u see them in person, some have dents and uneven surfaces lol they're so much fun to make. u should definitely try them out! bakerella.com is awesome!

I love your outfit!! it's very cozy yet sophisticated looking. You're just a tiny package of cuteness! your legs definitely look super long. and i love the nude shoes too!!!

Jennifer - LOL! good one...that is very sweet of you, but I think I am too "miniature" to be sought after by any petite clothing line : )
ReplyDeleteWhich is sad, because the concept of "petite" in the world of fashion isn't really petite at all. WE are petite! 5'4" and 5'5" (what they use for petite modeling typically) is not really petite at all! I'll never understand.
ReplyDeleteHeh, maybe they should start selling miniature lines (smaller than petite), though I don't think that would catch on very well!
Petite models are typically 5'5" - 5'7" actually. Generally tall thin figures sell clothes because they make clothing look better.
ReplyDeletePetite Asian Girl: Bella Petite is looking for petite models! And they're looking for people UNDER 5'5".
ReplyDeletelove the cardi! such a staple.
ReplyDeleteI love this outfit especially the nude pumps! I doubt target will still have them in stock but it's worth a visit! Btw, you're gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteDid you pass the CFA Exam?
